carom games

I've messed around with straight rail and its variants for a number of years. I actually think the skills developed in the small games transfer more directly to pocket play than 3c. Daly's Billiard Book is real treasure as are Hoppe's. All my experimentation has been done on a 9' Gold Crown, no pocket plugs. Amazing what you can discover and develop with some quality time spent on a pocket table with three balls. I used both pocket sized balls and full size billiard balls. I never set out to be a billiards player nor do I claim to be one. But, straight rail is an incredible skill at the highest level, wow!

But he was supprised by the difficulty, only having played 3c
