" Some people call Christmas the most wonderful time of the year, someone even wrote a song to that effect. But loyal readers, let us all join hands, zip up our anoraks and get the soup in that thermos flask, for we all know better than that don’t we? Oh yes. The most wonderful time of the year is now, as we embark on the 17 day marathon to find our new world champion. What on this planet could be better than that?

Case Closed Santa. We’ve got Snooker Loopy. "

My bets ?

I got 4 players in the top half of the draw and 3 players in the bottom half of the draw as I had to agree with Ronnie O'Sullivan when he said 8,9,maybe ten players are capable of wining this year but the next £1 E/W bet was due to be launched on Liang Wenbow and look what happened to him , trounced 10-0 by Jamie Jones in the final round qualifier so I think that's it and just let the bets run.....

Jack Lisowski ? Yeah well I bet him E/W a few years ago , well you know the score but he does look a bit like Brad Davis who starred in Midnight Express .

Just my opinion folk's ! :rolleyes::grin:

" Betfred is a bookmaker based in the United Kingdom, founded by Fred and Peter Done.[note 1] It was first established as a single shop in Ordsall, Salford, in 1967. Its turnover in 2004 was more than £3.5 billion, having risen from £550 million in 2003.[1] It has its head office is in Birchwood, Warrington but also hold offices in Media City, Salford Quays, Salford. "

BETFRED has/had , I couldn't care less to be honest anymore , a shop in Clydebank and there I sat with the Racing Post studying the Greyhounds for a Yankee bet but one was a runner at Cork in Ireland and the Teller wouldn't accept the bet because it was a runner outside of the UK he said so I switched the selection only to find it lost and the Greyhound in Cork , Ireland won so I got done out of a Yankee bet and never spent a penny in that shop ever again .
.Fred Done , just one of Barry Hearns many right hand men in the buisness world .

BBC - Snooker

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker

Welcome to the home of Snooker here on the BBC no doubt Hazel Irvine will say and Steve Davis , John Parrott and Stephen Hendry and co will just nod and agree .

Not a lot of information to be found on the BBC .

A good question was raised on a Snooker thread about choice of viewing this year , BBC , BBC Red Button , Eurosport etc but no mention was made of 'Da Bookie' who can afford to run many TV screens and one will show the World Snooker and that's where I sneak into attempt a correct frame score on a match !:p:wink::thumbup:

I'll go for one of the top two seeds. I would say that Selby is the steadier but if Ronnie hits top gear at the right times, no one else has a chance.

Agreed !

If and it's a big 'IF' so if 'THE DEVIL' shows up there's just ain't no catching him , thing is I just can't bet him or Mark 'Vampyre' Selby

It's too late for betting tips for me Bob as 'Da Bookies' have closed and by the time they reopen the event will have begun .:cool:;)

World Snooker Championship 2018: Ronnie O'Sullivan avoids Stephen Hendry comparisons

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/43838766

Quote .

" For the first time, World Snooker have announced a dress code for spectators with tickets entering the arena.

They said: "Sorry football fans. The event promoter requests that no sportswear or team sport shirts a worn."

Fans will be refused entry and they will have to find alternative clothing if something is deemed unsuitable.

Brian Talbot, who has been attending the Crucible since 1989 and is usually seen sat in the front row, told the Coventry Telegraph the decision was "a load of rubbish".

He said: "[World Snooker chairman] Barry Hearn is an absolute disgrace, he wants to bring the sport in line with the darts. I may as well go in dressed as Snow White or a Smurf.

"He's a dinosaur and he's ruining the sport that I love."

O'Sullivan said it was "laughable" and added: "You pay the money for your ticket, you should be allowed to wear what you want.

"At the darts they seem to be walking around in Superman outfits."

I guess helium shall be supplied via BBC commentary stream fed into the ears of the audience at the Crucible .:rolleyes::thumbup:

Mark Selby in confident mood ahead of the World Snooker Championship

Richard Mann spoke to Mark Selby ahead of his World Championship title defence which begins against Joe Perry on Saturday.

https://www.sportinglife.com/snooker/news/selby-peaking-ahead-of-crucible-bid/146642

As far as I can remember The Sporting Life's Richard Mann snooker tips are pathetic , worse than their former snooker tipster Simon Crawford who over the years did pick a tournament winner or two .
