Help with info on this table

Hi All - I inherited an old table and am a bit confused about the manufacturer. Name plate says Oliver Briggs & Son, while the slate (3 piece) has J. Magann & Co.

Pics attached of Briggs plate on the end rail, Magann slate, cushion, end frame, side frame, (pic of legs in next post)

Any help is appreciated. Seeing that the plate on the side rail does not have any patent information, makes me think this is pretty old.

I personally don't know much about this table, but...ran across this thread awhile back and I think you might find it interesting. It is an Oliver Briggs I believe, and probably very close to the model and time frame of build as what your's is (early 1900s?) I think this thread might answer many of the questions you have. It's a great thread!

Here is another link to a continuation thread about that same Oliver Briggs table. In this one the OP is having difficulty getting the performance he wants from the rails. Another great thread! This forum is a great source for info.

Thanks for the links to those threads, certainly an interesting read. I have some info that it could be a J Magann table that someone put an Oliver Briggs plate on. I’ll keep poking around here and hopefully one of the mechanics can take a look at the pics and offer their opinion.
