What's the biggest spot you've ever seen someone lose with?

I'm kinda curious about this. I've seen people lose with some pretty big spots, but what's the biggest you've ever seen someone get and lose with?

I've actually lost getting 15-3 in 1 pocket before. My opponent wore me down after 14 hours and towards the end, I just gave up because I couldn't go anymore. To top it off, I'm not really a 1 pocket player and had only played the game a few times before.

Getting spotted 98 balls in a race to 100 in 14.1. The guy tried 3 times and never got there. (guy was a beginner)

Another one, which is actually fairly common, is if the player misses, the other guy wins. Called playing the ghost.

Playing the ghost isn't exactly easy depending on what you're playing. There's not a whole lot of people here that can beat the 9 ball or the 10 ball ghost. Hell, I'd be willing to bet that there's a lot here that can't beat the 6 ball ghost.

By "common", I meant a spot that most are familiar with. Giving a huge spot is never easy, and few can give huge spots.

15-3

That's a huge spot in 1 hole. I understand you had only played it a few times.

I give you a lot of credit to post that because a lot of people wouldn't.

I've seen a buddy of mine give the 7 and the last 3 before to some guys that aren't necessarily beginners but they are 2/3 speeds.

You're right, a lot of people wouldn't. But when your opponent never gives you a clear shot at anything, it's not exactly easy to win. The match lasted 14 hours and he wore me down by the end of it. There was also a bunch of other factors that played into me losing, but those factors won't happen again. The main one being that my girlfriend, who was there with me, actually left in the middle of the match and broke up with me. My head wasn't exactly in the game after that.

I gave a guy 15-4 one time ended up 15-1 and the one he got was a scratch on the 8 I gave him

Spot

I've seen Frenchie from Vancouver give the owner of a pool hall the 3 and out playing 10 ball on the bar box and crush him consistently. That's the biggest spot I've seen someone win with lol

not the biggest spot

imperial billiards, downey ca. fred walen, played a buddy of mine, 14-1, my buddy could only make 4 balls in a row, then try to play safe, next round he could only make 4 again
.
fred only could count if he ran 50 and out.

if i remember right the score was 50 to 16.

I saw a guy beat another guy straight up using the bridge for every shot. I dont mean laying the cue on top of the bridge every shot- I mean using the bridge as a stick.

I read quite a few times one of the old 1P guys use to play F players and the only balls that counted for the hustler were ones the other guy made in his hole.

About 15 years ago, I witnessed a local pro giving a *very solid* player the 3-out & breaks. It was a 10-ahead set no less & I still can't believe he out ran that spot.

Wow, that is sick if the player is at all solid. I've always said on a barbox I'll take the 5 and the break against any pro and I "should" win. I am wondering if everything went wrong in that set? It would have had to (like constantly scratching or hooking himself on the break).

Scott

About 4 years ago at 5 in the morning at the Derby i saw Scott give a guy 15-2 playing 1 pocket and get the cash. It was standing room only around the table and was crazy funny with all the people.

I gave a guy 12-4 playing one pocket...

I gave a guy at corner pocket in metairie 12-4 playing one pocket and beat him two games before he quit and offered to stake me. I think that's the biggest spot I've ever personally witnessed being given up and the guy lose.

8 ball on a 9 footer. Mike got ball in hand 8 consecutive times and then game was played normally for $100 a game. Chip Compton was opponent and played one handed. Mike lost maybe $500 with this spot. He was a pro poker player who said he had never hit a ball in his life. Crazy. This was at Pool Sharks in 2011 during BCA Nationals.

this will only work

with weaker players, and i came close to getting a ass thumping..

i lived in downey and one weekend my wife and i decided we would go to the beach have a few drinks and spend the night.
after dinner we walked to a small bar near where we were staying.

there were a couple guys beating the balls to death, taking 10 - 15 shots to get through a game of 8 ball.

little booze and stupidity, i said i could beat either one of them with my eyes closed. it was all in fun as we were all setting at a big table telling jokes and each other buying rounds.

the game was decided, he would get the breaks, when it came my turn, i could look at the shot, get set, then the barmaid would put a bar towel around my head so i could not see, then i would shoot. you might want to try this its, much easier than it sounds after i won the first game we starting getting spectators, i beat him 3 games in a row the crowd started cheering and laughing.

at that point i could see he was getting a bit on the nasty side, so we graciously excused ourselves, and after we got outside we laughed our asses off as we hurriedly beat a retreat.

so, next time a guy says " i could beat you with my eyes closed " its not as big a spot as you might think.

I once saw Ginky (rip) play a set of 9 ball where the guy he played had to drive the 1 ball (or lowest ball available) to a rail. Ginky won
