14 Snakeskin Cases by Several Custom Casemakers

Hi,

I saw this thread and dug out some of my snakeskin cases. Many are very rare, one-of-a-kind, including:

* 2 Whitten All Alligator cases (from the same beast). Not inexpensive, but beautiful.
* Fellini Python case (like new)
* 3 Engels Python cases
* Thomas Python 1x2 early case
* Rare Spectacle Cobra case (see the spectacles on top of the head!)
* Justis Python 1x2 case (one of only three 1x2 cases Justis ever made, of any sort)
* Rare Spectacle Cobra Case (different than the other one)
* It`s George Python 2x4 case
* 2 Python Whitten cases (all python). Unused, like the alligator ones.
* Engels Ringtail Lizard case
* David Kersenbrock`s first cue he ever made was in one of them, so I added a picture. Fully documented in a personal letter written and signed by David. Very
interesting story behind the materials used in the cue, and where he made it. 1972.

I`ve got many more, but these fit ok on the table. I will take some more pictures.

Sweet fancy Moses.... Mr Prout that collection is incredible!
No way in hell I could pick a favorite but If I had to it would be
the smaller spectacle. That thing is so badass I would feel
guilty opening it. Thank you so much for sharing pics!

Years ago, at the DCC at the old Executive West, I was walking down the long hallway toward all the tables when I
noticed a guy in front of me with this smaller cobra case over his shoulder. I introduced myself to him and said, "You don`t know me but
I`m the guy that is going to buy your case". He said it was not for sale, he had owned it for quite a
while and brought it to DCC with him from overseas, but thanks anyway..........a few minutes later I had the case, less the cue that was in it.

Ernie Gutierrez was at DCC that year, he rarely came to Louisville, but when he saw the case he is the one
who told me it was called spectacled cobra, because it looks like the snake has a set of glasses (spectacles) sitting on top of his head. ;)

I bought the larger spectacled cobra case a few years later.

By the way, on both of the cobra cases, the snakeskin goes clear over the top, down the entire back of the case,
underneath at the bottom and back up the front. Even under the pouches which remove with snaps. The whole snake is included!

Neither one is made extremely well, but both rate high on the Cool Factor.

Will,
Once again congratulations! What a line up. I am absolutely speechless. Magnificent display. Joe, great cases as well by the big names. Formerly in women's shoes, Python because so expensive that you will only find it in very high end designer shoes, if at all. It is much harder to get than Alligator orother exotics.

After you and Joe, I won't bothr to get out my Ron Thomas Python....I think you guys have me covered.
All the best,
Phil

Hey Will,

Now that I have seen your 1x2 python I can give you a little more info. I met Alfie Taylor at the BCA trade show in Kansas City way back when. He came up to my booth and asked if I would make him a case from a python skin he picked somewhere in his travels. I oblidged and the skin he sent me measured over 20 feet, it was huge. After making his case, I still had enough to make 2 more cases and obviously you have one of the three. The last time I talked to Alfie, he still had his.

Burmese Pythons

Hey casemakers and cuemakers! Florida is being inundated by Burmese pythons, an invasive, unwanted species. By all accounts they are eating small animals, pets, and children at an alarming rate. Somebody should organize a hunt to exterminate them and make cue cases, wraps, boots, purses, etc. out of them. I'm sure even PETA wouldn't be opposed.

Will, is there a story for obtaining David's first cue as well? Unless it was still with original owner, I would think that would be more difficult to find than the proverbial needle... Especially since it is so different than 'par'.

Best regards, and love the collection.

There is a very interesting ( and wonderful) story both about the cue and my acquisition of it. I will post separately so as not to alter this thread.
Thanks for asking.

Let's see some more snakeskin cases!!! :thumbup:

Jack,
Thanks for the great note!
Now Alfie and I are related (in some way, just not sure how!).
I appreciate knowing this about my case!
