Here's his FB post....

Well it's a sad but positive day... I just enrolled into the best dealing school here in Arizona. Since bonus balls demise it has turned my life upside down... There are not enough big tournaments for me a year to make a living and my long journey of big money games and beating the best are over. I've accomplished everything plus some I've set out to do like champion of "legends of 1pocket, derby city, us open, music city, 7time AZ state champ, and I truly believe I've been ranked #1 on earth playing 1pocket for several years now. that in itself is a dream come true! It's my time to put the cue down and officially say I'm retiring from pro pool. I will still play a few events like derby a year for fun, but as for a living it's nearly impossible unless I was a world champion 10-ball player with no life or family... It's a terrible shame that pro Billiards never got big enough to motivate me to be a top rotation player, "wich I know I could of been" just not enough gold at the end of the rainbow for me. So it's official I Scott Frost captain of the 1st place team the Phoenix fire is retired as of now. I love all my fans and supporters and you will forever be in my memories and dreams!!! -Scott Frost- aka: the freezer

What is a dealing school? Is he talking about working in a casino?

I've never heard the term before

That is it Casino work, and RideWithTheWind was once a dealer, so i am sure she could have told Scott the facts about that game.

Not sure what the earning potential of a dealer is, but getting into a Top Casino is a tough nut to crack.

Back in the day...it was easy peasy to become a casino dealer. The casinos would train you, and as you became proficient in one game, they'd train you in the next. When I left Nevada, I could deal 21...shoe and hand deck, roulette, craps, and finally...poker. Of course, back then many were still mob run, but it was at the end of that hey day. Dealers were treated very well.

Nowadays.. it is my understanding, that it's a much tougher game to break into a decent casino. Also, the economy really hit casino dealers badly...so the unemployment rate amongst them...especially in NV...was very high.

If you're good and honest...you may well land a job with a decent casino.

I will say this...it was hands-down my most favorite job ever. Especially when I dealt poker.

He was certainly my favorite to watch when it came to One Pocket.
Good luck, Scott. When one door closes, another one opens. :)

Sounds like he came to grip with reality and made a difficult but good decision for him. It's a shame to see the professional side of pool in this sad state. Best of luck Scott!

This is not that suprising but very disappointing.

Scott - and many others - just got to 'invested' in the Bonus Ball BS.

I will argue 'till blue in the face' that many of these gungho 'leaders' put too much faith into the mistruths and led others to follow. They were lied to over and over.

And those that led others need to make amends - or they will just do it again.

History can be a *****.

I also want to wish Scott the very best. Although a little erratic at time - I always liked Scott and he became one hell of a one pocket player!!

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Kramer told Jerry he was retiring.....Jerry..with an extremely puzzled look on his face replied: From what?

I wish Scott the best of luck. He was indeed one of the best 1-hole players of all time. I do think that more pros will start looking around for jobs with bennies that will give them steady income. Since not many U.S pros travel or can afford to travel to tournaments out of the country, the pickings are very slim here.

There are about 8 major U.S tournaments and two promoters run four of them. If those guy's ever pack it in for whatever reason and Turning stone loses the casino sponsorship, not even SVB could make a living. As Mark G. had stated at the start of Bonus Ball over a year ago, pool is in a bad way. Johnnyt
