Joint caps - 01-08-2018, 01:35 AM

Joint caps are a must have on any cue and when I get some free time Iíll make a set or two.
Nothing real fancy.. not taking orders...What I turn out is what I turn out...

Has anyone actually damaged a cue without joint protectors? If you have, I would suggest you aren't taking care of your stuff.

Always use them. If the mfg offers them then I go with those, like the ones for my OB break cue. For my Runde I found a guy on Facebook who makes them from pool balls and he does really good work, was able to match the joint diameter of my Runde perfect. Tried other custom ones before and they never fit right.

Duh. But accidents happen.

Do you not wear a seatbelt in the car?

You should have a shot at the cash, especially if we don't get any top pros participating.
Good luck

They protect more than the cue.

If I didn’t have a JB case I’d use them.

I have a poison cue with a uniloc bullet joint. I didn't use JP for the first year I had the cue and suddenly I noticed that the shaft screws on a bit more than it used to. Both the shaft and the butt have the poison logo on the joint collar and at first those two were perfectly aligned, but suddenly they are not, shaft screws on a bit too much. So I got a pair of JP... I don't know what caused this or if the JP are actually doing something, but as others said, it makes it easier to take the cue out of the case, especially the butt..

It also depends on the thousands/millions of other (bad) drivers out there. That's why I always buckle up and use joint protectors... safety first boys and girls!

I use joint protectors on my cues.
The only time I wont use a joint protector
is on a shaft that is wood to wood joint fitting.
Because it will cause the thread on shaft to wear out faster.
Causing lose fitting when putting cue together.
It will cost more to have shaft fixed than worth putting
protector on that type of shaft.
That just my opinion.

Well - I think I do want to get some nice custom caps made for both my old Huebler and my new Dan Janes. (even though I do have a few JB cases - lol)

Best always,
