Is this a seeded event? I didn't see it mentioned on the website.

I don't see why the men are dragging their feet on this super tournament. To me it's a win for players and fans a like. Maybe there is something I'm missing here. Am I missing something here? If the $500 entry fee is holding them back, then that's a shame. Johnnyt

No, you're not missing anything here. In men's pro pool, these are the times we live in.

When there was a proper tour with a published list of player members under contract, a promoter could approach a potential sponsor and promise the participation of those player members. This made the pro pool product an easier sell to venue sponsors, those wanting banner or booth space at the event, and fans keen on following their favorites on the tournament trail.

The Bonus Ball guys (please, no bashing of them in this thread) have shown they understand this and fans like me and you appreciate knowing, more or less, which players will play on what night well in advance. They've also shown that locking up the players well in advance of an event is not something easily, or inexpensively, accomplished.

.... so, JohnnyT, you and I live in a pro pool world in which field size and quality are something we, all too often, find out at the last minute, because so many pros are deciding at the last moment whether or not to participate.

The Ultimate 10-ball event is still a month and a half away, so there's nothing shocking here, but any elite players who play Bonus Ball while the Ultimate 10-ball is in progress will be making a statement, and, at least in my view, they will be making the wrong statement.

Stay tuned.

Stu,

Very good post.

I have been told by a top player that there are no bonus ball matches scheduled that will interfere with the Ultimate 10 Ball.. I hope this is accurate.

After you register you will receive an email with instructions on payment. No Cash will be accepted this year.

This could be part of the problem on behalf of the men. Just a guess. Either way they better figure it out and send the money in. Sounds like one hell of an event.

I just spoke with Rodney on a couple of things and he had told me before that he would free until the end of Tunica. When I spoke with him today he clarified things for me a little and he is only available from June 2nd til the end of the UTBC NOT the entire southern classic. So Bonus Ball have cleared their schedule around the UTBC only. Alot of the players will be returning to Vegas right after to play their Bonus Ball matches. I am not sure how this affects the UTBC attendance but it may.

The players fill out the profile themselves.

**a side note - the players listed on the website are only the paid players. Many more, men and women, have registered but not paid yet.

I didn't see Melinda Bailey, akatrigger, on the list. I'm pretty sure she played at the last one in Frisco. She has considerably more seasoning now. I think she could be a real threat in this one.

Ray

That's very kind, but I can't take a week off from work to hope I play well against the pros. Bring it back to Frisco and I can afford it though!

Will the Live Stream of this event be PPV - I would like to go and support the event but unfortunately with the days of the week it takes place, I wouldn't be able to get out of work.

No, the Live Stream from this event via PoolActionTv.com will be a FREE LIVE STREAM the entire week.

Too bad, that you can't get out of work. This may very well be one of the best events of the year. It's certainly an important chance to see some of the best pool players in the world.

Only 8 spots left in the Lady's
108 left in the Men's

If a $75,000 added event run by a reputable promoter doesn't fill something is bad wrong. I hope the guys dragging their feet wake up and figure it out. $69 hotel rooms, great equipment and only four days long. Whats not to like? Plus if you want to stay you get another tournament right after.

I was a little skeptical on the first UTBC as I am of all first time events but it was a great event by all accounts and this one is shaping up to be bigger and better. Badi Nazhat is saying and doing a lot of the right things. I hope people get on board and support what he is trying to do. There are not a lot of people beating down the door to promote big events in this country. When one shows up and lays down a good track record we should all get behind it.

I imagine right about now, many NON-SUPER-CHAMPIONS should be thinking, "Well, they are not a lot of players signing up for this event. maybe it's time for me to get my feet wet with a major major event like this one. After all there is $75,000.00 of added money in the Men's event."

Yeah, I'm positive some of the Super Champions are a little slow on posting their dough, maybe some are trying to get a sponsor to belly up to the table which is cool.

In fact, I was thinking that AZB might start a corporation or two. Maximum expenses for this event is $500 for entry, $70 a night for 5nights at the casino hotel (split with two people) and transportation. That's not a lot of money, especially when if you win a couple of matches you stand the chance of winning over $1400 for your efforts.

I wonder if some of the big name players are just waiting for their sponsors to pay up. The entry fee is a paltry sum when compared to what you can win.

I know one overseas big time player has registered but not paid and he wants to pay with cash at the event and I told him NO CASH will be accepted at this event, so he should just find someone with a credit card and give them the cash.

I read in another thread that Cliff Joyner is looking for a sponsor. If you don't think that guy can play 10 Ball, you need to look and think again.

There are lots more out there that haven't paid and I'm sure they will be a lot of late shows but this is kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

What do you think about having an early payment entry fee and a late entry fee somewhat higher? Do you think that would help get the players moving a little faster in the future or would it simply eliminate some of the players?

I am surprised that the men to date only have 35 players signed up so far. Not sure what they are waiting for, but the prize money is awesome for this event.

There are many who have registered but who have been slow on dropping the coins.

Where is Anastasia Luppova?

God help us all if she makes it to the tournament.

Mike from Moscow,
Can you get word to Anastasia and let her know that we would love to see her here at this event?
