Author of Russian Dossier Goes to Ground-Terrified for His Safety - 01-11-2017, 05:13 PM

Former MI6 officer Christopher Steele, who produced Donald Trump Russian dossier, 'terrified for his safety' and went to ground before name released

A former MI6 officer who produced a dossier making lurid allegations about Donald Trump is “terrified for his safety” after he was unmasked by a US publication.

Christopher Steele, 52, fled from his home in Surrey on Wednesday morning after realising it was only a matter of time until his name became public knowledge.

A source close to Mr Steele said on Wednesday night that he now fears a prompt and potentially dangerous backlash against him from Moscow.

Mr Steele, the co-founder of London-based Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd, prepared a 35-page document that alleges the Kremlin colluded with Mr Trump’s presidential campaign and that the Russian security services have material that could be used to blackmail him, including an allegation that he paid prostitutes to defile a bed that had been slept in by Barack and Michelle Obama.

His research was initially funded by anti-Trump Republicans, and later by Democrats.

Mr Trump has branded the allegations in the dossier “fake” and has said he feels as though he is living in Nazi Germany.

With his cover about to be blown, Mr Steele hurriedly packed his bags and went to ground hours before his name was published on Wednesday.

Mr Steele, who spied in Moscow for the Secret Intelligence Service in the 1990s, fled from his home in Surrey after leaving his cat with a neighbour and telling them he would be away “for a few days”.

For months, he had been playing a dangerous game; tipping off journalists about what he said he had discovered from his sources in Russia about Donald Trump’s alleged dealings with the Kremlin, as well as claims that the FSB had hugely compromising information about Mr Trump’s activities during visits to the Communist country.

Mr Steele had been hired by a Washington firm to gather information on Mr Trump’s connections to Russia, funded at first by anti-Trump Republicans and, later, by Democrats. He also shared the information with the FBI.

One of his key contacts, David Corn of the political blog Mother Jones, wrote last year about the resulting dossier and his conversations with the “former spook” who had compiled it, but did not name Mr Steele nor, crucially, did he give away his nationality.

The existence of the dossier, which ran to 35 pages in total, comprising several reports filed over the course of six months, had been common knowledge among journalists in the US for more than half a year, but it was only given credence when the US news network CNN reported that Mr Trump and President Barack Obama had been given a two-page summary of its contents by the FBI.

CNN also reported that the dossier had been put together by a British former intelligence agent, and Mr Steele’s anonymity was fatally compromised.

A source close to Mr Steele said he was “horrified” when his nationality was published and is now "terrified for his and his family's safety".

At his large detached home in the Surrey commuter belt, a neighbour said he had left on Wednesday morning. His wife and children were not at home on Wednesday night.

"He asked me to look after his cat as he would be gone for a few days," said the neighbour. "I'm not sure where he's gone or how to contact him. I don't really know much about him except to say hello.

“We're all pretty secretive round here to be honest. All I know is he runs some sort of consultancy business."

Mr Steele is understood to have worked as an expert on Russia for 20 years during his time at MI6, and was sent to Moscow as a spy in 1990.

After leaving MI6, Mr Steele founded Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd with his business partner Christopher Burrows in 2009.

The company’s website says that it was “founded by former British intelligence professionals”. Based in Grosvenor Gardens, near Victoria railway station, Orbis says it has a “sophisticated investigative capability” and mounts “intelligence-gathering operations and conduct complex, often cross-border investigations”.

It also offers “real-time source reporting on business and politics at all levels”.

Mr Burrows, 58, said he would not "confirm or deny" that Orbis had produced the report.

Mr Burrows describes himself on the LinkedIn website as a former counsellor in the Foreign Office, with postings in Brussels and Delhi. He was educated at Cleethorpes Grammar School and Liverpool University.

Giving his first question and answer session with the media since his election, Mr Trump said the eyebrow-raising reports about his activities in Russia were “phony” and “false,” and voiced his anger at his suspicions that intelligence agencies had leaked the dossier.

He said: “I think it was disgraceful that the intelligence agencies allowed any information that turned out to be so false and fake out,” he said. “I think it's a disgrace, and that's something that Nazi Germany would have done and did do.”

He said for the first time that he did now believe Russia was behind the hack of Democratic party emails. But he also said that the hacking had revealed valuable information, and insisted that he wanted to make friends with President Vladimir Putin, saying he believed that would be an “asset” to America, especially in its fight against Isil.

Addressing a packed lobby in Trump Tower, New York, Mr Trump hit out at the news organisations who had reported the contents of the dossier, labelling Buzzfeed “a failing pile of garbage,” the BBC “another beauty” and saying CNN dealt in “fake news”.

One US official said investigators had so far been unable to confirm material about Mr Trump's financial and personal entanglements with Russian businessmen and others whom US intelligence analysts have concluded are Russian intelligence officers or working on behalf of Russian intelligence.

In the news conference, Mr Trump declined to answer whether anyone connected to him or the campaign had contact with Moscow during the presidential campaign, and said he had no loans or business deals with Russia.

The White House has said Mr Trump and his transition team have refused to make public information that would put to rest questions about his and his family's possible financial entanglements in Russia.

"There's ample evidence that they could marshal, to make public to refute those claims, those accusations that they say are baseless. But they refuse to do so," spokesman Josh Earnest said at a news briefing. "That kind of secrecy only serves to sow public doubt."

The forces of evil are after the Donald. What is ironic is this is the kind of stuff Russians do, create misinformation campaigns.

They are addicted to the people's money inside the beltway and are like heroin addicts and degenerate gamblers.

The alleged paying of prostitutes to defile a bed Obama and Michelle slept in is utterly ridiculous. There are way too many people out there that would pay Trump for that opportunity and we know the Donald is all about making others pay. Pinocchio Award for that one.

I was just perusing that dossier and its a piece of sh.........t. Trump does not take any drugs, does not drink and is a germaphobe. He is a savvy guy and now they have him in Russia where they are notorious for bugging, having hookers piss all over his bed and being filmed?.

Sounds like this loser wrote the script for the Hangover movies.

4Chan Claims To Have Fabricated Anti-Trump Report As A Hoax

In a story that is getting more surreal by the minute, a post on 4Chan now claims that the infamous "golden showers" scene in the unverified 35-page dossier, allegedly compiled by a British intelligence officer, was a hoax and fabricated by a member of the chatboard as "fanfiction", then sent to Rick Wilson, who proceeded to send it to the CIA, which then put it in their official classified intelligence report on the election.

Here is 4Chan's explanation of how the story came to light:

>/pol/acks mailed fanfiction to anti-trump pundit Rick Wilson about trump making people piss on a bed obama slept in
>he thought it was real and gave it to the CIA
>the central intelligence agency of the united states of america put this in their official classified intelligence report on russian involvement in the election
>donald trump and obama have both read this pol/acks fanfiction
>the cia has concluded that the russian plans to blackmail trump with this story we made up
just let that sink in what we have become.

And a summary posted on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/XjteDsMm

On january 10, Buzzfeed posted a story under the byline of Ken Bensinger, Mark Schoofs and Miriam elder titled “these reports Allege Trump Has Deep Ties To Russia” and posted a link to a document alleging, among other things, that russia has been cultivating trump for 5+ years, that trump has been in constant contact with the kremlin for information on his opponents, and perhaps most inflammatory, that there are many recorded instances of blackmail of trump in sexual misconduct. A prominent claim is that trump rented the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in moscow, where he knew that the Obamas had slept in; he them hired a number of prostitutes to perform a 'golden shower' (pissplay) on the bed and in the room. https://www.buzzfeed.com/kenbensinge...-trump-has-dee...
https://assets.documentcloud.org/doc...ntelligence-Al...

Noted #nevertrump voice Rick Wilson later commented on twitter, stating that the report “gave a new meaning to Wikileaks” (https://twitter.com/TheRickWilson/st...82395202379777) and that the report was the reason everybody was fighting so hard against the election of Trump. (https://twitter.com/TheRickWilson/st...83514335047680)

The remarkable thing? It's all fake. And not only fake; it's a prank perpetuated by 4chan, on Rick Wilson himself. A post on 4chan on october 26 stated “mfw managed to convince CTR and certain (((journalists))) on Twitter there'll be an October surprise on Trump this Friday” along with a picture of a smug face with a hash name. http://archive.4plebs.org/pol/thread/94704894/#94705224

on november 1, a person without a picture but is assumed to be the same person posted “So they took what I told Rick Wilson and added a Russian spy angle to it. They still believe it. Guys, they're truly ****ing desperate - there's no remaining Trump scandal that's credible.” https://archive.4plebs.org/pol/threa...8919/#95571329

on january 10, moments after the story broke and began to gain traction on social media, a person with the same smug grin face, and the same hash title for the picture, stated “I didn't think they'd take it so far.” http://boards.4chan.org/pol/thread/106514445#p106520376

This story has taken on something of a life of it's own. Going through Rick Wilson's twitter, you can find many different stories from the time that he had shown the story to a wide number of anti-trump news sources, trying to find a news organization that would actually publish the story. During that time period, he referred to it often as 'the thing', and often playing coy with followers on the content with the story with anybody who was not also a #Nevertrumper. Unconfirmed sources has people as high up as John McCain giving the story to FBI Director James Comey to attempt to verify the story. Given that Rick Wilson runs in Establishment circles, it is not an impossible scenario that long-serving senators are falling for what amounts to a 4chan troll trump supporter creating an ironic October Surprise out of wholecloth to punk a GOPe pundit who derogatorily referred to them as single men who masturbate to anime.

While this entire incident is laughable, and even more so if the 4Chan account is accurate, what makes it quite tragic, is that it is no longer possible to dismiss the "fake news" angle to an intelligence report. And if the CIA is compromised, what is left for "news outlets" like CNN and BuzzFeed, which were all too eager to run with the story without any attempt at verification?

Keep your head down and admire the shot.

This Republic was never supposed to have the Bolshevized entities that are just like the KGB. Truman really regretted creating the CIA.

Lets cull the herd. 17 agencies and all those McMasions, pensions and country club memberships.

Its time for some swamp draining. Don't let " Mavericks " run us into bankruptcy.

Yeah sure. And I highly doubt any of the rest is true.

Here you have a supposed M16 Officer, and he is that stupid to pull that one off before doing some serious considerations of the possible Blow Back.

I suppose that he wasn't the smartest M16 Officer on the planet.

No it doesn't. This had been shopped to every MSM media outlet, and was widely known of in many hands for close to a year.

Every Senator and Congressman had seen it months ago, and all the nets and cable media outlets, months ago. It was common knowledge, including to the Clinton campaign. And not leaked, by anyone, in the election season.

Director of National Intelligence Clapper told Trump in a newly released communication that it "was widely circulated in recent months among the media, members of Congress and Congressional staff even before the {Intelligence Community] became aware of it."

Sure, only if you ignore the FBI seeking FISA court surveillance warrants on four Trump campaign intermediaries in April 2016. Or ignore that their counter-intelligence actions are reported up to the DNI's office.

Formerly The Nation's correspondent, now the Mother Jones contributor, David Corn (who had broken the highly damaging Romney 47% remarks tape video), reported it sans lurid details in October, without attributing it to a national source, just a NATO country intelligence source. He reported that a credible allied intelligence source alleged Trump had been targeted by Russia for over five years.

The national IC has stated it has found this source to be reliable in the past. Upon review, they judge his Russian sources are reliable. And so, in the briefing of Russian involvement in interferring with the election, favoring one side against the other, it included a two-age appendix to the written materials summarizing the 35 page raw field intelligence reporting from this source.

The Trump campaign, through Kellyanne Conway on Seth Meyer's show, disputes that this was actually briefed in the meeting, and said that Trump hadn't been aware of it before the media releases, despite its provision in that meeting before media releases as a two page appendix to not more than twenty pages of briefing materials.

CNN reported that the appendix contents were part of the (oral) briefing. NBC has more recently reported it was not included in the oral briefing. If they are right, KAC is proven (technically) right, although convicted of clever spin.

No one denies the two pages were appended to the < 20 page main briefing materials, meaning that Trump could not have been uninformed of this, unless he didn't read the briefing documents (< 22 pages) he had been provided to supplement and document his oral briefing. Or didn't have others explaining those contents to him.

We now know that the FBI took such charges seriously enough to apply to the FISA court for subpeonas for wire-tapping and other surveillance of four Trump campaign intermediaries, as early as April 2016. These were refused, more than once, until the FISA court granted them only as late as October 2016 upon repeated FBI requests.

Soon after the election day, about day two, the Russian deputy foreign minister said on the record that they were well acquainted with 'most' of the Trump campaign principles, and had been in constant contact with them throughout the campaign. Hope Hicks, the campaign spokesman, flatly denied this was true.

Hnmm. Who has the greater motivation to lie? A senior Russian official, relying on favorable treatment from Trump in the future, or Trump through his spokespersons, desparate to distance themselves from Russian collaboration that is beginning to be described as treason?

Not at all. This is a verified, now identified publicly, former MI-6 agent who has proven reliable on multiple occasions in the past, the IC says. The IC also says his Russian sources are credible.

Based on his past reliability, and his sources' credibility, the IC included a two-page addendum to the other briefing materials to PBO, PEOTUS Trump, and the 'gang of 12'-- the Speaker of the House and the House minority leader, the Senate Majority and minority leaders, the chairman of the House and Senate intelligence commitees and their ranking minority members, and the chairmen of the Homeland Security committees and their ranking minority members.

They don't officially brief garbage that is not credible. This is credible, although not confirmed or yet endorsed in any or all particulars to date by the US IC. Yet it was taken seriously enough to be included in their official briefing to the most senior govenrment officials.

I am wondering which one it is now. Russian Operatives are supposed to be in possession
of said, Damaging Dossier.

Previously, it was Russia, being responsible for hacking Shillary's Servers and backing Trump to win the election.

And now, is Russia trying to ruin his reputation. Which one is it. I doubt either is true.

Someone is trying to start Shite with Russia and they are trying hard to put some sort of blame on them, for whatever reason. One attempt doesn't work, so they will hit Russian from another angle.

For a person that has supposedly been Targeted for over 5 years, that hardly sounds like a Country that wanted him to become President, and then turns on him directly thereafter.

Man, this is worse than a Hollyweird Gossip Rag and the National Enquirer put together.

But, I think that Trump will figure it out, get to the bottom of it, and heads are going to roll. I truly believe when it comes to Business savvy and people in general, he is much smarter than the last 2 Presidents put together.

if you wanted influence another country, you would love to have 5y of intelligence on the leader of the country to use in case you need to push at some point.

so I do not see Russia trying to ruin his reputation but they would probably like to be in a position to do exactly that if necessary.

why is there nothing being said about Trump admitting Russia was behind hacking? All Trump-supporters were right there shoulders deep supporting him when he said they did not do any such thing and now that he changed his tune....crickets.
