Pedro Piedrabuena and Miguel Torres have advanced to the 1/8 final round of the 2017 Pan American Championship. Hugo Patino who won the 2016 Pan American title played... but was eliminated.

If Pedro wins... it will be an interesting turn of events. In 2016 Hugo was dual champion (USBA and Pan American). Pedro won the 2017 USBA title in Tucson on June 11. He's got a real shot as he advances to the final rounds of the 2017 Pan American.
It would be great if the USBA champion went on to win the Pan American championship two years in a row!
