National? Gandy? Something perhaps interesting

Edit 8-28-2018: After reviewing and comparing with known cues and showing the cue to a person who dealt with these cues I have decided this is a mid to late 1960's National cue.

Anybody have any ideas on this?

It has an aluminum insert. Shallow pilot. Brass 5/16x18 pin.

I am unfamiliar with the weight bolt.

Smooth leather wrap, really nicely done.

Interesting note is that the design is very similar to the Gandy HC-115, which had a white butt cap and black rings bordering the pearl ring in the butt cap.

the whole thing reminds me of meyer or fedunka.

Yes, it does look very Mayer-ish.

(Meyer vs Mayer, I have seen it both ways.)

Any examples of aluminum inserts? Any pilots like this? Any weight bolts like this?

I have a Mayer cue believed to be from the 70's. I'll haul it out and look, but this cue seems much older.

I don't know Fedunka enough to say.

Fedunka used aluminum on the outside.

There was a cue in this style on ebay or craigslist not long ago that was made by a NJ maker I had never heard of.

I was sure I'd remember his name, but it's gone from my memory.

Interesting. This cue turned up here in Florida. The seller found it in an old Valley case, so they thought it was a Valley cue.

The case is marked Valley, Bay City, Michigan.

If one believes the case was originally paired with the cue, perhaps the Valley logo could help date it? I don't know.
