I will be there. Teams and singles. Quite a few teams from Calgary going.
I'm hoping it's going to be like a mini Vegas! Now that it's located in a nice hotel with a casino it should be fun. Although, I hear we're playing in a outdoor tent in February:eek:. Apparently they have other functions held in there (weddings, meetings etc.) with no problems. Good luck, and maybe we'll play each other you never know!

I'll be there early Thurs morning. Singles and Scotch.
Maybe team if someone is short.

I know there won't be as many tables as at the Mayfare because of space but didn't hear anything re an out door tent.

I'd be a little disappointed cause I didn't pay for flights and hotel to play in a teepee.

Minus 43 with the wind chill in Regina right now and I doubt Edmonton is much warmer.
They better have some good heaters in the tent if thats where they are going to have it.

I just looked on the River Cree web site. 24.000 sq feet of convention and trade show space plus ballrooms for smaller events.
That would have to be a pretty big tent.

I think someone was jizzin ya Bud.

I know a lot of people in Edmonton, and the first thing they said when they heard it was at Rivercree was "where they gonna have it? the ballrooms aren't big enough. Don't tell me we're playing in the tent in February!" lol. Apparently it will be heated just fine and everything should work out well.

If you still don't believe me, go to Rivercree's website again, at the bottom of the page click on, Media Gallery, then click on Sports Events and scroll all the way down to the last picture and you will see the tent in the background.

The outdoor tent does look very big, and they say 100 + tables. Hopefully they are using the ballrooms as well like the Mayfair, for finals and the masters division.

I don't think any tables will be set up in the ballrooms,
I've been wrong before though :)
The tent has a lot of events all winter long...I don't think heat will be an issue :)

Has anyone had any luck booking rooms at the casino hotel? I was a late addition to a team and it seems all the rooms are gone already. Is there a group code or something?

Too much posting and too much english, neither is good for your game.

I actually will NOT be there. I made the decision about a week ago based on some exciting tournaments that are coming up in Red Deer in the near future so I'm saving my $$$ for that.

I will probably make it next year if there is one.

On a different note, we Albertan players by nature have wander lust. I understand that some of the organizing types in Sasquatch land have been approached to post their tournament information on the Alberta Billiards facebook page and snubbed us wildrose players in a truly eastern fashion.

I guess you guys truly are scared of people from west of the 4th meridian.

Sorry to hear that you won't be there James. As far as posting our tournaments on some redneck site, I have no issue with that. There's a tournament almost every Saturday at 1PM at the Snooker Shack in Saskatoon. Having said that our recent loss of Doug Nutter may have caused some disruptions. I'll speak with my man in Regina (Terry .... Mr. bluehogrider to some) and see wft is up with the squimish-saskquatches.

BTW, got reservations at the Casino hotel yesterday for Thursday and Friday ... maybe they are only sold out for Sat/Sun ?

LOL @ some redneck site.

i gotta say, this facebook site is the equivalent of AZ is for the world when it comes to promoting events in Alberta. People from BC and the states (especially Montana and Worshington) often will post tournament info as well.

I'm glad you got your reservations, it's too bad I won't be seeing you and Terry with his zebra stripes and florescent hat.... um I mean lack of hair.

And you are certainly welcome to show up at my weekly Sunday tournament that usually pays around $50 for 1st place.

Just phone ahead if you're going to be late. (well, less than an hour late)

Might I inquire about upcoming tournaments in Red Deer. I am rather disconnected from the local scene due to working away from home.
