I wish my hall would start purchasing these matches and playing them during normal business hours!! Golf and Nascar are perfectly fine spectator sports, but for the love of god.... Why no streaming pool on the monitors?!?! If you have more than 14 tables in a room, there should be some pool on a monitor somewhere lol.

... End of rant.

9 ball or 10 ball? Single elim or round robin for 8 ball tourney?

CSI Presents...The Tiger Challenge: Dennis Orcollo vs Jung-Lin Chang tonight starting at 6pm pacific time!

Already ordered.
2 questions:
1) Is this 9 ball or 10 ball? cos it says 9 ball at http://www.playcsipool.com/ and 10 ball at http://www.playcsipool.com/LiveStreaming/PPV.aspx

2) JCIN says at http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4816073&postcount=27 that the CSI Invitational 8 ball tournament will be changed to single elimination. Here http://www.playcsipool.com/Events/UpcomingEvents/2014CSIInvitationals.aspx it still says Round robin So is it confirmed single elimination or round robin now?
If it is single elimination from 16 players to 8 players to 4 to 2 to 1 it will be total of 15 matches instead of 27 matches for round robin. So good thing is every match will be streamed instead of only 50% streamed in round robin stage. But what is not so good is that players do not get 2nd chance like in round robin or double elimination

If I were one of the players and this change happened in the middle of the event, I'd boycott the rest of the event. What absurdity.

If sponsors had any money at all wouldn't the steam be free anyway? If you need any more reminder how dead pool is as a spectator sport this should be it.
In other words this is some kind of "Tiger Challenge", but they charge to watch it?
How pitiful is that?

I didn't say the 8 ball would be single elim. I was talking about the round robin portion of the ten ball being finished and down to the final four which is single elimination.

The 8 ball is the same format as the ten ball. Round robin with one guy coming out of each group.

So when Budweiser sponsors heavyweight fights or ufc events it's pitiful because they charge to watch those? Or is it just when things are in pool that they get ridiculed ?

I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing up that.
Great that it is round robin so players get 2nd chances and do not get KO fast :grin-square:

The way I read your post, it inferred to me that 8-ball had changed. Might wanna edit that post to clarify.

I didn't mean to step on toes really. Just with such a small viewership it seems the sponsors could subsidize the stream? Free streams get more viewers,,,hence more ad impressions.

The prize fight analogy is OK, but only really the million + dollar fights are marketed than way. These are internet pool streams,,,not cable or network TV broadcasts.

Are there other comparable sports/games on the internet charging for their streams? I'm honestly asking, not being a wise guy.

I don't pool has figured out which sponsors match best to their product. It's not the mainstream sponsors IMO, but there are companies with some money who might be interested....but I've yet to see them mentioned on this board.

I feel the same way!! I play at two places most of the time and they never show any pool??
Sports Center is cool, but once I've seen it 10 times in a row...,

Wish I could watch this, but between league night and work in the morning, won't even get to watch any of the replays.

Have you asked them if they are open to showing it? Maybe they don't even know that there is any interest and most likely don't even know anything is being streamed.

Chang sring 3 racks followed by Orcullo with 2 racks so now Chang 3-2
In Rack 5, Orcullo broke and 1 in centre of table but 2 in cluster with another ball near top corner pocket. Orcullo pots 1 and bring CB to split cluster with shape on 2 and run out
