I would like to learn more 1 pocket. Who is the best teacher that can communicate their ideas so that they are easy to understand? Travel is no problem inside the 48. Would like to know who you like and why. Also, any 1 pocket instructional vids that you think are exceptionally good. Thanks

Young guys I would pick SYLVER OCHOA!!! head down to Texas or Jeremy Jones!!!

Another honorable mention is

Fast Lenny sells Power One Pocket with Scott Frost, I bought the DVD, and learned a few of Scotts secrets. Good value when I bought the DVD.

Incardona lives in Dallas, Texas ,unless he recently moved.

I would suggest "San Jose" Dick McMorran in Arizona. Darren Appleton went to him for lessons.

I know these guys all play really good 1 pocket. What I am looking for is someone that is really good at explaining what he teaches. Some guys that play good, can't teach very well. Do any of these guys get high marks for teaching 1 pocket?

Pick up Billy's DVD and you'll have an idea of how he explains the game. Recommended to me by JoeyA.

Tom is a great suggestion.

Tell you what I learned watching good players: when you position balls in front of your pocket, leave them in the zone that is an arc in front of your pocket, about 1-1.5" away from your pocket.

Also, don't turn the table over as the result of an error.

Easy, see?

Come on... Not a single "The game is the Teacher" yet? I didn't "real-eyes" this place had gotten so serious! :)

Apologies to the OP for adding negative value to the thread.

Danny D. is by far the best in the business

Danny D. is by far the best in the business at teaching one-pocket. There are several "2nd bests," however, when a player is serous they go to Danny.

.I probably shouldn't be "waking the dead" LoL

Actually Danny is the one that the "smart" players prefer, although Billy I. is here in Dallas and certainly knows the game well too.....I probably shouldn't be "waking the dead" LoL

The " Professor " one Grady Mathews has passed on he would be the best teacher in my opinion if he were still extant. One does not need to be deprived of his knowledge because he left a legacy of instructional videos to peruse.

I miss him as a commentator he was the best in my opinion.

Jimmy Fusco is a one pocket specialist, as well as a world class player in all games. He gives lessons all the time in the Philly area.

Regarding instructional dvd's my favorite is actually a match between Jimmy Fusco and Jim Rempe. The Beard is the commentator. The commentary and Fusco's play make this match tops for learning, IMO.

Allen Hopkins may actually be "the best" - just too expensive

Allen Hopkins is probably "the best," however I think he would be too expensive.

When Allen was gambling back in his prime there was no one that wanted to tangle with him.....Efren was the first one to challenge him and although Allen knew the game better than Efren, he was the underdog because of Efren's incredible cue ball control on caroms.
