When someone is under such a strong delusion that they think everything someone does is "stupid" or "bad," there's very little hope. This is by far one of the best posts you've ever done sir! Not only are you one of the greatest pool players ever, OR, one of the greatest teachers(IMHO), you also have the ability to understand SJD's problem perfectly!

Now, the question becomes will SJD be able to understand his dilemma with "the CJ"?

Is the reason the list short because of the fact you're still drowning in a small fish bowl? Maybe if you add more people to your little list you can stand on them on not drown in the little fish bowl you occupy! Food for thought sir;)

Only time will tell, once "the CJ" is in his head, it will be incredibly difficult to think straight again. He will be obsessed with stalking "the CJ" on azbilliards and if he tries to stop, he'll find he's helplessly, hopelessly addicted to Toi.

I believe the key to playing great pool has a lot to do with the acceleration

If he's an amateur, most likely any adjustments made during the game are likely to confuse and diminish the skill of the player. Say I twist my wrist on a particular shot by a very small amount (and don't feel it). Should I therefore adjust my aim on the next shot to the opposite side? That is the road to failure for someone like myself.

I may be nitpicking here but, isn't continually adjusting speed, aim etc the opposite of consistency? Of course CJ is arguing that "inconsistent action" by which I mean adjusting your mechanics (shot speed etc) leads to consistent results, but is that generally applicable to all players?

My opinion is that by nearly missing a shot, you have strayed from the fundamentals you have practiced due to lack of concentration. Therefore you focus harder on the next shot. That is what usually happens when you play a superior player. He is in the zone and his game is gradually speeding up, to a point where he might get sloppy. If at that point he rattles the ball in, he will immidiately realize that he slipped up and focus harder. Usually they might take a second longer on the next shot or a short walk around the table to compose themselves. And then you get to watch them run out.

I'm not sure if focusing harder is a good practice or not. I believe the key to playing great pool has a lot to do with the acceleration at impact. "the moment of truth in pool, is the moment of impact"

Not doing this well causes players to miss a lot of shots at the intermediate and advanced levels. I can see when this starts to happen and if a players doesn't try to correct it right away he could be making a big mistake.....which will lead to many little mistakes in the very near future.

I like putting the right foot directly on the shot line, then turning the right to toes the right about 45 - 75 degrees, 90 may be too much for many players.

The stance should be balanced, and withstand a push from any direction without moving.

More valuable advice ! Do you find a lot of people try to 'push' you; as you are down stroking the ball?
..I guess this could be a problem, if you only play in crowded, drunken bar's !....Yes, I am obsessed, with 98% of your advice !..Maybe you should try getting some meds from your 'shrink', to improve your 'way with words' ?..Can't hurt ! ;)

Success sir, is in the eye of the beholder! Most people who know me personally consider me to be fairly successful with my past endeavors. But yet, I consider myself unsuccessful because of the things I haven't attained(non pool related of course)

See SJD, you, like Hilary, need to create absolute chaos everywhere you go! CJ, unlike Hilary, tries to help people and push them forward(no matter how you feel about CJ, he is helping)!

You on the other hand sir, are not! You are trying to keep everyone equal without the possibility of advancement. Just like the democratic party;) they create "social issues" and drive tension between the people!

If I'm not mistaken, I thought of you as conservative?!?! I guess by your actions you're nothing more than a bleeding heart leftist liberal who wants to have socialist government and country so we can all be robots and be the same!?!?
