GHOST CHALLENGE RULES:

Race to 7
Break, take ball in hand and try to run out
9-ball rules (hit lowest ball first, flukes count)
Runout or early 9-ball (combo/carom) is a win for you
Miss or foul is a win for the ghost
9 ball on the break only counts in the side and head pockets (9-ball made in the either of the foot pockets spots up)
Cue ball fouls only
No penalty for a scratch on the break, take ball in hand and continue
No restrictions on racking (magic rack, pattern racking are okay)
Video uploads are not required to participate, but encouraged if you have the means to do so.

9-ball will be main game, but if that's too difficult/too easy for you, you can play a different ghost (6-ball, 10-ball, etc.) with the same rules and the scores will be listed separately by game.

***STRAIGHT POOL GHOST***

- Ball-in-hand breakshot to start
- Run until you miss, foul, or reach 100 points (win!)
- After a miss/foul the ghost gets X points + the number of balls remaining on the table, then re-rack and set up a ball-in-hand breakshot (X is a variable number, can be set to 10, 20, 30 or 40 depending on your skill)
- Repeat until either you or the ghost gets to 100 points.

Please post your score (you-ghost), date, table size/pocket size, and a link to your video (optional).
(We're including scores from the end of 2014 as well, so let's get to it!)

The way I play, early 9's only count if you don't take ball in hand.

That's an interesting rule, and useful for taking away those easy ball in hand combos when the 9 sets up over a pocket.
For consistency purposes though, we're going to use the rules above since they seem to be the simplest and most widely accepted rules for playing the ghost. If you prefer to play with some slightly different rules, then you're definitely welcome to. Just make a note of it when you post your score.

I just gave this race a try. Didnt turn out well this time . Ill try again soon.

I had many occasions to try the nine right after the break. With BIH. I didnt even try because it didnt seem right.
But I can see a time where it might be almost impossible if you dont shoot it. But I guess,, you could just spot it and not count it as a win,,,, and continue shooting.
Since it counts,,, I will try again,, and shoot it if possible.

I think for many of us, a combination is a welcome break from the constant pressure of the ghost. Think about it this way, for every rack where you have an easy combo, you'll probably get a rack or two where balls are tied up and you can't run out. I take the wins whenever I can get them!

Added! Nice win, looking forward to the vid. (From the looks of your last video, you should have no problem taking on the 10-ball ghost or higher! Leave the 9 ball to us bangers:wink:)

The 9 ball ghost is still challenging for me. I have to play good to win. My break has gotten a lot better in the past year and that helps a lot.

Thanks for doing this thread -- it may liven the place up a bit.

You can do it on any table you like. I'm sure some people don't have easy access to 9 footers, so if BB's are what you normally play on then by all means go for it!

That's good to hear. You're gonna have to bring it next time because I'm going for a perfect 7-0. If you see any jumpy bits or subtle lighting changes between racks, it's not from video splicing, my camera's just weird like that.

Well,,,here's my video. Or should I say videos. For some reason my camera divided this into 3 separate videos. Although I filmed it all at one time.
If anyone can tell me why,,I would be interested.

And it took since 1 am, last night, to upload them to youtube. I woke up this morning and still wasn't done.

Here are the first 2 parts to it.
Although I lost to the ghost in a race to 7. I whooped his arse in a race to 5.lol

Thanks Flash! It's taking a long time for my video to upload to Youtube as well, not sure why. Might have to turn my camera settings down a little to make the video files smaller I guess.
