To anyone in the Chicago Area who is interested in learning straight pool, here is an open invitation from Jim Parker of the Illinois Billiard Club:

"If you have an interest in 14.1, I would like to invite you to our club some Sunday around noon.

We're a private honor system based billiard club now celebrating
our 38th anniversary and not a pool room or any other form of public
place of amusement or gaming arcade, so if you have interest in
stopping in please E-mail the day and time convenient for your tour of
our facility and discussing IBC policies and the possibility of making
arrangements for one of our members to work with you in an effort to
learn 14.1.

Billiards,
Jim Parker "

I sure wish I was a little closer. Four hours drive is tough to fade.

Did you ever take any lessons from Dallas West?

What is the straight pool scene like in Rockford?

I want to take lessons from Dallas but I'm waiting on getting my game up to a little higher level.

14.1 in Rockford is pretty much dead but Dallas does have a small 14.1 league that he runs, Due to my 3-4 day ever changing work week I cant get into it :frown:
