Each table takes Daniel up to 10 weeks to handmake in his Wiltshire workshop, using ash wood for the frames and top-quality baize from the Hainsworth fabric mill in Yorkshire, while the balls are competition-standard Aramiths made by Saluc of Belgium, and the pocket plates are solid brass with leather surrounds.
Prices vary according to the complexity of design, but both the banana and doughnut tables are listed by Purling at $15,000 apiece. There is currently a three-month lead time on orders.
