I have one shaft that a local rubbed caranuba wax on it he said

I love the feel, and the cleanliness of the shaft now
It does not get dirty with chalk not nearly at all like my un waxed shafts

I want to do it to the rest of my shafts now that i have a drill lathe setup for tips

Will the chem pak q wax give similar results?
It seems like a cheap price and has many positive reviews

That's what I use. No need for any other wax IMHO. People always ask me how I can afford to always use new shafts and find it hard to believe when I tell them it's the same playing shaft that I always use.

Which one do you use?

Thank you for the response
I understand it looks new still and is a few yrs old now with regular play

Honestly once i get it its the only way to go from here on out, i will wax up all my shafts

here is a thread on carnauba wax from the ask the cue maker forum
which also mentions renaissance wax which i use and am happy with
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=385751&highlight=carnauba

is that a use once and your done type of wax?

because im reading this and seems like people are applying it more than once
or im not understanding correctly

the waxed shaft i have was waxed just once and it hasnt needed any other treatment

do you just apply the one time with that renaissance and your good?

Renaissance and Craftsman

I have been reading through some past threads about this here on AZB lately, and it seems like weight of experienced opinion heavily favors Renaissance Wax, which is also used by museums for all sorts of stuff. That's what I'm going to try. I'm also interested in trying Craftsman cue wax based on strong recommendations here, but it comes from overseas and is recommended not to have it shipped during warmer months.

Get a Revo.
No more waxing, dings, scratches or any shaft worshiping at all.
All your troubles will seem so far away.
But if you want to be stuck in Yesterday, seems like Renaissance was very
high on the list in the end at that long recent Wax link. So was Carnauba.

my cue repair guy uses carnauba wax when he cleans /seals/lpolishes shafts
i have had to have those shafts re done from time to time
after reading alot of positive reviews on renaissance wax i bought some and have him use it now on my shafts from time to time
i dont wipe down my shafts after play all the time....:embarrassed2:
so no it hasnt been a one time application
but the shaft didnt absolutely need re waxing i just thought lets clean it/wax it for maintenance
wish i could give you a better answer

I use NO WAX and my shafts are sealed, clean, 'Buttery Smooth' and slick. People think they are waxed:eek:uttahere:

Butchers Bowling Alley Wax works great. I have that and the Renaissance and prefer Butchers...

I have not tried either but have thought about trying both. Can you tell me what you like about Butcher's better?

I got the q wax
Waxed up some clean shafts well

Then i clean a few with magic eraser
And they dont wax up like the un magic erasered shafts

Anyone else come across this?
The ones used with magic eraser are not smooth after several applications of wac

did you use a sealer first? ... if you don't have one - maybe try burnishing with a piece of leather before adding the wax.

Magic eraser is abrasive. It also seems to slightly pull up the wood grain, which I believe is part of the reason it cleans well. I'd definitely go over it with 2000 grit or something. Then wax. If it doesn't feel ultra smooth before wax, then you're not really ready to wax.

Sealer

No sealer just magic eraser

I will give that burnishing tmrw thank you

Burnish in lighter fluid as a cleaner and a sealer ..........................................
Use lots of lighter fluid ..............first time out you might to have to treat the shaft several times with lighter fluid ....

Lighter fluid feeds wood , as in its good for the wood ....

All the car paste waxes work good ......
The synthetic car waxes have a higher melting point and a harder surface ..
