Do the American pool players give back?

a few of them are obviously afforded a relatively nice lifestyle because of the tournaments and action here in the us. And I know pretty much all of us are happy to have them and see their play.

Do you feel like they give back to the country that gives to them however?

Curious what people have to say either way.

What exactly has the country given them that would require them to give back something?

As far as I know, the USA hasn't/doesn't/and has no plans to promote the game of pool. Everything I've seen that involves the promotion of pool has been done by somebody other than the government.

They give back to their sponsors by using whatever products they endorse.

If they pay the taxes they're supposed to pay (at gunpoint from the IRS).......what else do they supposedly "owe". ??
I wish I was good enough to make a living playing a game I enjoy.
Live and let live.

I'm intilted.
Ask me how.

My guess is that you are tilted to the left. I guessed that because the left are the ones that want everyone to graduate. Even those that don't know the difference between intilted and entitled. :D

This might be the stupidest post ever! How do you define "give back to the country that provided them?"

I don't know of a single player that is living in Malibu Hills. I mean this is so stupid. Out of all sports and I do mean all sports, there isn't a single player that makes over 200k a year playing pool. And if that player does it isn't for a second year.

Can you imagine tiger woods or Michael Jordan smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer while performing there profession.

The problem with pool is the players and the environment they play in.

It's like asking a homeless guy to contribute you the YMCA!

Joey.... till now I have respected your posts. But, 100k in Arkansas and New York is so far off that obviously you don't understand financials.

Obaasaid a rich person makes 250k. WTF? What country does that undereducated moron live in?

Wake up people!

If you are not making 500k a year you are poor! Period! End of topic!

Live with it or change it.

Should a pool player making (at the top level) give 10% of his 100k earnings away? F$ck to the NO!

This was a play on the similar thread about Filipino players giving back.

JoeyA

Are the American players able to go to another country, win a single tournament, and have enough money for 10 people to live on for a year in their home country? They could probably do that if they were able to get good enough at snooker. And yes, if an American pool player went over and won a few snooker tournaments and took home a cool million or two, I'd say yeah, he should probably be doing a little giving back by way of promoting snooker in the states, or whatever the hell method he wanted to give back in.

I don't get your question....What'd they take in order to be able to give it back? Are you saying they didn't earn their money in the first place or what?

This is what started it....
Do the Filipinos give back? In the Main Forum.

People are always telling other people what to do with their money.
Envious?
Jealousy?
Socialism?
Stupidity?

I'm entitled.
Ask me how.

Wow. I just wanted to take a sec to thank you for gracing us with your opinion.

Even though you have not been able to appropriately apply something basic- there/ their- you are obviously quite qualified to comment on economic, labor, philanthropic matters, intertwined.

So awesome!
