Cue identification - Cognoscenti?

Hi all,

I apologize in advance if this belongs in another sub-forum...

I've been offered the chance to purchase what appears to be an early Cognoscenti cue, however the silver stitch ring style doesn't look quite like Joe's other cues. The cue features a light green G-10 pin and contains no weight bolt. Would anyone be able to take a look into the pictures I've attached and help identify if this cue appears to be Joe's handiwork?

If anyone can provide contact information for Joe that may lead me in the right direction! I welcome all responses.

Looks like it, with a different ring work http://jjcue.com/cognoscenticues.htm G10 pins there also.

From the pictures the finish is high quality, wrap looks well done, if it's a copy it's by a good cue maker.

Thanks for the input! I know Joe rarely, if ever, marked his cues with any form of "signature" unless a metal pin was being used if I'm not mistaken.

What's the length?

57 1/2" total length with original shaft (pictured with 1 in ferrule).

I've seen Cogs like that in the past.
Not my favorite ringwork by Cognoscenti, but I bet it's a Cog.

I'd say it's likely a cog, maybe a bob hunter

How about a picture of the most important detail?
THE SCREW.

That's what I was thinking.
I owned that model in the 90s....and I've been in Joe's shop...
...but it's hard for me to identify the ring work in a pic.

Joe's Cues are in fact 57.5" this is from well known Cog Dealer.

Nice looking cue.

Here you go! I had to reach out to my friend who still has the cue to get a picture of the joint.

@pt109 - you've seen this same "1-3-1" pattern in the silver stitch ring work in Joe's shop?
It was in the 90s I was there.....and I probably didn't pay enough attention to ring detail.
...what I remember best is the shafts hanging all over...
..I'm pretty picky when I inspect those...Joe's work was great..
...he showed me his unique (to me) machine for making those shafts...
...later on, I talked a friend into buying one.

If it is not a Cog I would be surprised. Joe has done different rings, pins and other things during his career. The only other builder may be Bobby Hunter who learned from Joe.. It is true that most of his cues have the standard Cog ringwork but not all.

I've never seen joe use the 1-3-1 ringwork. You could easily call and ask him though. It shows all the other signs of a cog. If it's not joe, it's probably bobby, and if it's not bobby then it looks like an excellent copy. I'd still buy it.
