Eddy is one of the few players who could have outrun that average. It's only a matter of time before someone loses a game with an average of 4+.

That happened a few months ago.

Ramon Rodriguez was the loser, Dani Sánchez the winner. Their match in the Verhoeven Open 2017 ended 35 - 28 in 8 innings for Dani, 7 for Ramon.
For the record: Blomdahl was the first player ever to lose with 3 average, when RC beat him 50 - 39 in 13 innings, in the Crystal Kelly tournament (1999).

If they don't have equal innings, it would also be possible to lose with a 4 (or higher average) to a 3.xx average, for example 35-32 in 9/8 innings but many close non-equal-inning games end with the lower average winning.

The TB/RC game is perhaps more impressive because it is harder for both players to have a high average over a longer match.

The Brandenburg European championship seems to dwarf the actual world championships in scale
