Would you be happy with a Mosconi team based on Fargo Rate's top 5 American players?

Sans Daz since he'll play for Europe obviously.

SVB

Mike D.

Justin Bergman

Johnny Archer

Rodney Morris

I would be if I could substitute Mike D. with Skylar based on his performance last year.

Mind you I don't think we should do away with the match room points system at all. I think building on the match room system has the potential to seriously help pool. We have long talked about a "pro tour." Why not base it around the most popular pool event every year. The world cup and pool masters get thrown into the mix and more state tournaments gain attention. I can't go to the Texas 10 ball this year because of my 3 month old but I'll probably go to the 9 ball. Both events count for Mosconi points so it'll fun to watch. Having a "Mosconi tour" makes a lot of sense.

I do not understand why so many people are in love with Skylar Woodward`s game. He lost both single matches at the Mosconi Cup. I also noticed at on point he was the only player in the Bigfoot challenge who did not break and run a rack. Most had 4 or more. Not exactly world class. I am looking at his resume and cannot find that he has ever won anything on a 9' table against the best players. Mike D would appear to be a much stronger player.

ACtually what I'd like to see..

What I'd like to see are several regional tours based on the Mezz West State Tour structure with the top 64 players making up a professional tour with 3 or 4 events a year...

Just thinking out loud...

say 4 regional tours with the top 16 from each tour rounding out the 64...

Right, except Mike does not show it at the Mosconi at all. Texas Open 9 ball last year which had a field that included Bergman and a few other champions.

Funny that Darren is now listed as USA. Last time I looked, he was listed as UK.

We should kick these illegals out of our country, taking our jobs and our women.

Dechaine's definitely a top 5 player but doesn't handle the pressure well. I think Rodney's gotta be there. Wouldn't mind seeing someone like Dominguez or Frost, SVB, Bergman, Rodney, and Archer/Hatch.

After watching Skyler's performance in the Mosconi Cup on a 9 ft table, he needs to improve his kicking ability. If he is able to improve in this area, then would I put him ahead of Mike DeChaine. But it will be the Mosconi points that determines the outcome.

We should determine who gets to play on the Mosconi Cup based on a costume contest. Who can wear the most patriotic outfit? Top 5 are IN! Prior mosconi cup outfits are banned however...

I already suggested that the 2016 Mosconi Cup and all the Mosconi Cups from now on go by the top 5 USA on FargoRate as of 7 days after the US Open finishes each year.

No -- you would continue to have players that don't play cause their FargoRate doesn't diminish enough over time.

Right watchez....according to the schedule your next post should be about how Archer doesn't play anymore only to have someone come on here to prove otherwise. Then we do it again in a week or two when the next discussion of the Fargo ratings comes up..

It happens when people don't understand what something really is.

There is more to a team than just having the best players on it.

Thank you kindly.

Finally, sense emerges.

The nucleus of the Mosconi Cup team should be already in place. These should be the five players from 2015 and Mark Wilson should now be working with them in a bid to raise their existing level of play. There is a skill gap between the top ten European and their US counterparts. Unless this is addressed on a One on One basis then it is possible that the USA may NEVER win the Mosconi Cup again.

This does not mean a closed shop to other players. The series of events identified by Matchroom will result in a number of other players producing positive performances.

This would lead to them being invited to join the group and being part of the skill improvement initiatives. The final list is still not going to be too big to manage.

Mark would be able to take up offers of help from other respected coaches to cover specialist areas in which a player could benefit from personal attention.
There is not a top player in the USA who cannot still up his game by 10% to 50% and thereby allow his team to compete.

Even veterans like Earl, Rodney, Johnny and Dennis could climb aboard the wagon this way and you can still teach Old Dogs some New Tricks. Maybe Old Dogs can teach the New Dogs too.

As things stand Mark is like a Eunuch who is waiting around until about five weeks before The Cup before he knows who he has to work with. He then is faced with a month in which to weld them into a cohesive force.

Same old same old.

Is the Ryder Cup team picked according to their HDCP index........NO but since pool wants to do the event every year, it should only be based on 4 events, all on 9 foot tables playing 9 ball. Leave 1 or 2 picks for the captain to make.

4 of the 16 players in the 2016 Bigfoot event had no break-and-run games (Appleton, Feijen, Bergman, Woodward). Woodward was the only one of those 4 who played 2 matches.

Five of the 16 players had 4 or more B&R's.

I think we need to stop thinking this Fargo rating system is one all and be all. The players selected to play for the USA should be based on tournaments played in and the finished status they had in those tournaments.

We might even start thinking about boycotting those tournaments and leagues that supplies your information in to the Fargo rating system.

How do you envision that data as being different from the data in FargoRates?

We might even start thinking about boycotting those tournaments and leagues that supplies your information in to the Fargo rating system.

Why? What makes a tournament that sends information to FargoRates different from one that does not?

FargoRates can read tournament results same as the next guy, why does it matter how they got those results?

Thank you kindly.
