Much like portrait tattoo artists, there arent a whole bunch of leather carvers who can accurately reproduce a photo and have it actually look like the person. And few if anybody making cases currently has the talent or ability to do this kind of work IMO.
There is one guy, Rex Goulet who is probably your best bet if you choose to go down that road.

Faces in leather will not go off well, Chuck is correct. You could always take a piece of leather to a laser engraver to see if a photo can be cut into it, but that's a real stretch.
"Embossed?" You are thinking of leather carving. Great for patterns. The best carvers can do images, but I don't think it generally looks so great.
If you want photographic results, like for faces, there are other ways.
I have seen guys have Harley seats done.
Google leather tattoo. There are several ways this is done.
It need not be a case maker. A case maker can supply the leather, it can be sent to an artist. Pick your case maker, and pick your artist. And a case maker may know an artist. Ask John Barton.

John Barton had a leather guy who was a tattoo artist before he started doing leather work. I have a case he did including his "take" on some of my tattoos and a carving of a CMB thats about as close as a person could get.

phil eastwood is a heck of a leather carver. He might be able to put the faces you want on a piece of leather that you can have incorporated into a case - his cases are typically elaborate and pricey.
