Meucci barbox pro shaft issue?????

Was doing a tip job and ran into a curious issue with one of these shafts. Dowel inside the ferrule was completely loose. Glue had broken down. Appears to be an oak dowel and there is still a shoulder of maple that the ferrule is glued onto.

Customer complained that it sounded like his tip was loose. Well....I would say so, lol.

Oh and this cue is approx 7 months old with the original tip.

????? Anybody know what in the world is going on with this?

If I was making a guess which is all I can do. I would guess this is another way of trying to produce a LD shaft with less weight and more cue ball action in the front of the shaft, but the glue failed.
I would also guess that wood is lighter than maple and the thought behind it is it makes a stronger front than leaving them hollow or filling with foam.

But like I said that is just an educated guess.

There was an OLD article written by Thomas Wayne where he mentions using an Alaskan Yellow Cedar dowel inside a drilled out shaft for a sort of LD effect. Tommy D.

The Predator BK3 shafts are made the same way. The filler dowel is completely unglued from the shaft. It is only glued to the silencer pad under the tip.
