Dictating where you lay your head at night, is ridiculous! Considering, just to attend I would be in it for like $2000. What if I want to stay with my buddy Tim, for free? What if you already live in Tucson? Just stupid.........the Casino and the USBA can go suck eggs...hahahaha

I'm sure you'll have no problem filling the roster, regardless. Just get down off the high hat, please.

Jamie, I'm happy you had a big laugh about having to stay at the Casino. Since you find it appropriate to publicly trash the USBA and this event, it should be appropriate to respond publicly.

Were you really considering playing, until you heard you were required to stay at the Casino? Is that a wall you can’t climb?

Now if you would, for at least one 1 second, think like the Casino Owners, and you're donating massive space, worth thousands of $$, which is a significant donation to the USBA. They’re taking a chance on the USBA knowing full well 3-Cushion is not a major attraction. Guess what? They lost BIG at the Nationals, didn’t make money at the first event, and are still committed to finishing out the Contract. Personally I think that’s a shame they didn’t make money. I guess I’m the odd one, wanting them to profit on this and have no problem supporting the effort.

We need people that want to help grow 3 Cushion. If you want to help, god love you. If you think we're destroying the game by committing to this Casino, I'd appreciate you'd send me or Mazin a PM, or give us a call to discuss your solutions, rather than spending time on this public forum trashing the USBA, the Casino, and all the people that are working to make this a success, particularly when you have knowledge of who, what, why, where or when.

You seemingly can't appreciate the personal time, loans, donations, and effort from certain folks, which will likely never be paid back that’s gone into this tournament series. As far as this next event is concerned, we need this to be a success, so others will want USBA tournaments run in their venues. Why publicly trash this effort? Like I said, if you have a better idea or solution, lets hear it.

If you don’t have a better idea, off hand, here's one for you. Why don't you organize a 68 player tournament in GA, put your money out there to buy a sufficient number of tables, work to fill the field, get donations, collect entry fees, get sponsors, set up the tables, run the tournament,..... and come away with the venue owners making a couple of bucks. It will be a good experience and I assure you that you’ll learn something and come up with ideas to make it better the next time. How do I know that? Because that's what we're doing. Doing and Learning. Adjusting. Then Doing again.

I really don't get it. We have a good thing going at this Casino, not perfect, but trying to hold a Major USBA Tournaments excluding the "A" players, and that's not good enough either, even though this is one of the major complaints about Major USBA Tournaments.

So promoting the "B" & "C" player tournaments isn't good enough now that we're doing it. Now what do you suggest we do? Stop trying?

Cut us some slack, offer solutions, lend a hand. Simply complaining doesn’t move the ball forward.

Thank you for changing your advertisement related to the tourney. It is a step in the right direction. The previous one was only going to undermine your objective.

You can always count on me to speak up when something is wrong. Don't cry about it, just look at what you did, take the criticism in hand and make a positive change, if possible.
The fact that most of the event attendees would probably have stayed at the casino regardless of what was offered must have been lost on whomever made up that first advertisement.
Anyway, you went off on quite a little tangent and making all kinds of assumptions. I'm not going to dignify most of it with long drawn out explanations. Suffice it to say that, yes, I was planning to attend but the cost is too high for me at the moment. Between lost work and the cost of the trip I'd be out several thousand dollars. Which in the past I have swallowed without complaint to attend and support the efforts of the USBA. As have all attendees of USBA tournaments. Unfortunately, It's just not good timing for myself, this time around.
I am glad that you've committed to offering a tournament to the lower average players. I am a advocate and promoter of the game everywhere I go and have put plenty of money and time into tournaments buying tables, teaching people how to play, coaching, etc. Don't ever make accusations and assumptions about anyone, hell I just hosted a tournament last weekend.

Lastly, I will never cut the organization any slack. Why on earth would you want me to do that? Then you'd become complacent. I appreciate your response even if it was mostly whining, you're getting upset for no reason. I gave a lighthearted sarcastic suggestion and you turned into a therapy session. Get over it, dude!

Jamie,

The new flier doesn't eliminate the requirement to stay at the Casino. I'll have to put back the original announcement.

I don't mind when there's constructive criticism. I asked for that in my earlier post.

You said "the Casino and the USBA can go suck eggs...hahahaha"

Why would you say such a thing while at the same time claim to support the game? Makes no sense what so ever and why I blew a cork. If that's what you think about the USBA then DUDE we have nothing more to discuss.

For me I'm going to continue to support this and any effort that promotes more tournaments, competition, tables, players. If I see something I feel is wrong, I'll discuss it privately. Why?? I may not be right. I might not know all the circumstances.

Mouthing off and thinking you're keeping the USBA in line is foolish and destructive. Get a grip Dude!!

With that kind of attitude, the organization will likely slowly flush itself. Being that you're more concerned about a Casino making money than the individual players, that actually support your endevour.....I'm just laughing and laughing and laughing, I can't stop, oh it hurts.. Best of Luck. :)

I read this thread with disgust.....

The secretary of the USBA posts a flyer on AZ for an upcoming tournament and there are certain requirements stipulated.

ALLEGED USBA MEMBER [AUM] replies, slamming the organization, its reputation TOTALLY DISRUPTING and HIGH JACKING THE THE THREAD and poor Tom fell into this fool's trap and wasted a lot of everybody's time crafting his replies which nobody probably read except the hijacker himself.

NOW THAT IS ALL FINE AND GOOD but AUM did not have to air this problem, this issue in such a public forum to get the stipulated requirements changed.....he should have gone through channels......instead he leaked...is that the behavior of a loyal member of the USBA???? NO.....and perhaps it is time for the board to set some examples?? No??

OH, by the way i am running for a seat on the USBA Board so please don't vote for me as i might be your worst nightmare if elected.

AS TO THE PALEY-SIBLEY DEBATE i would have to give it to Tom but only as i am partial to staying on site if at all possible, as well as ALL OTHER PLAYER's [locals excluded but you can't stay with your Uncle Tom if you from more than 200 miles away]. When the player's all stay in one place and gather in their off hours and do not have to DRIVE back and forth to save $20 a day it is a good thing. So next time you have a ***** be a little more diplomatic JS.......and TP just ignore JS on AZ because there he comes across as a pure idiot but in private he is otherwise......

TP, when i say JS is an idiot, he claims to "play" with a Dieckman, whcih would of course be proof positive......but then you play with one also, RIGHT ???

:boring2::eek::cool::rolleyes:

I you call this "lighthearted and sarcastic" you need to go buy a better dictionary; using words like "ridiculous" and "stupid" is neither lighthearted nor sarcastic.

Oh and you "hosted" a billiard tournament.....you mean you had some of your local billiard buddies come over for an afternoon of fun and games. Oh....and you teach the game to whoever will listen, who ever is stupid enough to to take instruction from a sub 0.500 player?

When one is a member of a small struggling organization, one should not bash the organization in public, at least if one expects to remain a member, in good standing, of that organization. There are more people now, spending more time OFF THE TABLE trying to help promote the game than you even have a clue about and you also have no clue how committed and passionate they are to billiards. You, DUDE, are just a dilettante compared to them.

Just two personal questions: HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU ACTUALLY DONATED TO THE USBA? HOW MUCH OF YOUR PRECIOUS TIME HAVE YOU GIVEN THE ORGANIZATION OFF THE TABLE?

All I am reminded of when i hear people who don't do any work talk about the quality of the work that those that are actually doing some work I can only roll my eyeballs heavenwards and recall the words of JFK: "ASK NOT WHAT THE USBA CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE USBA....."

Dennis Dieckman who is ashamed of some of the people that claim they can play with one of his cues, but not all of them.......

this thread has inspired me to poetry

It is all too easy to complain, *****, *****, *****
Let your fat lips get drooly and twitch
It seems your brain is made of oatmeal
That it has no clue what is really real
And rather than do real work wants to sleep in a ditch.

Who, what comment or what inspired me i will not say.

:eek::mad::rolleyes::cool::p;):thumbup::D:angry:
