Are you referring to the Turning Stone commentary? I heard one of them (Jerry I think) say that, and it just sounded like excuse-making to me. The Euros do not play as a team outside of the Mosconi Cup. Americans have to just face it, the Euros are just better pool-players, and they’ve proven it the only way you can prove it: By winning over and over. To conclude anything else is delusion.

Just a I suspected for all these years. Out of the kindness of my big heart
I bring my old Oak Cliff buddy on too our fast pitch soft ball team. Have his
uniform professionally tailored by Ralph Lauren himself (I think that's who
it was) so he would feel like he was a part of this tight knit bunch of
fine fellows. I even had a talk with the team to chant " Deano he's our
man if can't do it nobody can " when he showed up for the game. All
he's done for over 40 years is complain about how i had him playing
the wrong position, his uniform didn't fit, this or that guy was no good
and on and on. What an ingrate. I just hope Deanoc never makes the
Mosconi team with his all for me attitude.

Streaks are funny. Winning and Losing. Generally they go on longer than they should. Losing team improves but still bottoms out and loses a couple of more before rebounding. Winning team is on fire...does the wrong things and still wins.

The Euro's have gotten hot and figure they can't be beat. The American's have gotten some horrible rolls and can't seem to buy a break or get out of the funk. My expectation is that when USA finally wins they will take the next two after it.

I think there is something to playing on a team that is quite different than playing as a single competitor. There is a different level of pressure when your whole team is counting on you to win your match for them, as opposed to just winning for yourself. The Europeans have dominated in team events in pool and golf recently. I don't know why they are performing better but they certainly are at this time. Being part of a team is different than performing individually plain and simple..
