Varney Cues

Let me first say I'm sorry & apologize to all AZ'ers for any problems I may of caused you by my being behind on orders and for any comments I've made in the past. I am especially sorry to all of my wonderful customers & friends here on AZ...I'm sorry many of you have to wade through the daily headlines. Sadly most of the Varney haters are NOT customers or even have a cue ordered. They are a small group simply trying to cause me grief. I very much appreciate the tons of support from my many past customers here and from my friends here as well. I would also like to give a special THANK YOU to Miles as we've recently shared a bit with each other & I'm very proud to call him my friend. I also want to publically apologize to the moderators for what I'm sure is the daily headache I cause them.
This thing has gotten out of control and I am here now to straighten a few things out. When people start making uncalled for comments toward my wife then that is simply enough...period.
Now to clear up some rumors. Yes I got slammed with recent orders but I am only really behind on about 20 cues and I'll be caught up entirely by this fall. Since I've stopped accepting new orders things are moving along quickly. I've too recently hired a friend of mine to help with some of the time consuming task that will also be of a huge help to me.
As for Cincyman's cue...yes I screwed up. I did indeed tell him I had an ebony hustler blank turned near finish size. It was one of the very nice old ebony Duff blanks. Truth is after turning it to final size...I simply was not happy with the way the points had gaps that looked to be filled with wood filler or such by Dufferin. I'm sure most players would of been fine with the cosmetics of the blank but I was not. I just didn't want anyone posting close up pics asking why the sides of a couple points had a "filler" veneer. So I started over from a oversize real ebony fullsplice and not a Duff blank. I now have the new blank finally turned to size so the cue will ship in a matter of days. I will do my best to get it shipped this week but it is a short holiday week. Worst case senario it will ship Mon....there, all of AZ has it in writing...Monday at the latest. Despite what many others may have done...I did NOT rush this cue or take any shortcuts. As I've said before I take great pride in my work as these cues will represent me forever.
Also yes, despite my best efforts some cues are out of order. Some were easier builds, some go together perfect, some require that I simply start over. I have one cue now that is #3 as the others developed issues. Wood often has a mind of its own as many of you know. My cues are not the nicest or fanciest, I'll be the first to admit. Performance is my #1 goal and I do strive for perfection. I would like to add that I also have a customer receiving grief about when he ordered his completed cue. Well he didn't order it, he simply purchased the rights to the cue from the original customer. I have Bnall's ebony/bem cue near finished too and if he decided to sell it today before it was complete then thats entirely his business....the new owner should not in any way be hassled or have his name tarnished.
I've said enough. Know too that I will not be responding to this or any other threads in the near future as I'd much rather let my actions speak for myself. I'm going to simply spend my time in the shop completing past due cues and I will post pics in the Gallery for all to enjoy. The completed cues will speak volumes more than any words.
Thank you to everyone for their time.

Good to see you are doing the right thing Kevin. You just took a huge step in the right direction. Good luck.

Is this an apology or an ad???

You caused yourself the grief. I don't believe anything you say and
you can't even offer a sincere apology. Heck I never even ordered a cue and it still pisses me off. I can't imagine how the actual customers (order givers... hard to be a customer without delivery) feel after all the waits and info that has came out.

Other cues have went out. You were not behind so many cues that you could not get Cincys out. You simply TOOK other orders afterwards. Even offered others on here cues.

I believe that there ae very good and reputable cue makers on here and in the US. I sincerely hope that all orders go their way.

And really .... No crap ... you didnt rush it!!! That was the funniest part to me. Its an excuse to try and make you look better.

I respect people for taking responsibility for their words(me yesterday), business, personal conduct, etc. Your future actions will exonerate* you if you do as you said in the above post. It will take some time. I'm gald to see you make a post.

*The removal of a burden, charge, responsibility, duty, or blame imposed by law

You be careful tossin them 10.00 words around now :D

Kevin good luck, I hope things work out for you and your business. I for one found any comments directed toward you wife in very poor taste and completely wrong.

The ball is your court now, if you do the right thing you will never hear another negative comment from me, for what that is worth.

Sincerly, have a good day!!!!!!!

yeah, i learned it from my lawyers :( years ago. For all the wrong reasons back in 95, but I came out ok. I learned my lession then about customer service. It wasnt my company but i worked there on a 1099 deal, i worked when I wanted and set my own hours, etc. Its the closest thing I ever had to a job, it was fun for a while.

i'm pretty sure the guy you're talking about that bought the rights to the spot in line is the guy who took my place on your waiting list. that cue was ordered by me 18ish months ago. if he ordered it or not shouldn't really speed up or slow down the completion process.

there're numerous pictures that you sent to me via email on here that i've posted. that cue was so near completion there's no way he shouldn't have it now.

Ha!

Somebody brought KV's wife into this? Jesus, keep some perspective people.

To the customer, it is $ and a toy.

To KV, it is his career.

lol @ giving us the definition of exonerate. Thats like a 3rd grade word.

what's the over/under on "smarter than a 3rd grader":scratchhead:

Nobody is out to get you, Kevin. We just are (and should be) protective of our members who we think are being mis-treated.

My opinion is when it comes to business, it is best to be forthcoming, but especially when things aren't going well, because people can be very forgiving. This post should go a long way to help, but actual follow through is what everybody will be looking for.

I'll keep my faith that you indeed come through for these customers and straighten everything out so you can proceed with re-building your business. For the sake of your family, I truly hope that your business thrives well into the future.

Chris

nice one Kevin for the update, hope you keep the ball moving swiftly along and looking forward to my cue.

and come on man what more do you want???

the man has said sorry multiple times, admitted he screwed up, and is working round the clock to complete the remaining outstanding cues.

you said yourself, you don't have a cue on order, so why are you so angry?? why do so many people seem to get so much pleasure from crucifying someone and pummeling them into the ground?

(but I am glad you posted cause I would love a bit of Christina Aguilera)

Whaaaat?
exonerate is an "executive" word, third grade words are "Badger", "Happy", "Ball" and shit like that :D :D

I don't have a dog in this fight, so maybe I shouldn't have an opinion. Or maybe discretion would be the better part of valor, or something like that. Nevertheless, I'm human, and I read the long thread. The entire thing. Maybe I have too much time on my hands.

Here's my point. I was away from pool for 25 years. I came back a year ago and since then I've bought, and in some cases sold, about 15 cues. I always have a main player, a cue in waiting trying to become my main player, a main breaker, a back up breaker, a jump cue, and a few that I'm keeping for posterity etc. I'm a real potential cue buyer in other words. I've had both good and bad experiences buying cues and cases here, and with cue and case makers. Mostly good by the way. A couple bad. I've met great cuemakers like Paul Dayton and Jeff Olney and Mike Pancerny, and renewed a few acquaintances with class acts like Martin Bick from Western Cues. I'm not going to discuss the negative experiences here. Let it suffice to say that I just don't want to take any unnecessary chances. I read enough in that thread to scare me away. Yes, I was considering a Varney J/B cue. I lost a healthy deposit on an X-Breaker due to a shady maker and I don't want to get burned again. I know there are others out here who feel the same. A seller, cuemaker, retailer, businessman, often only has one chance to impress, or to chase the customer away. This story speaks for itself.

I hope the restitution comes off as promised. The buyer deserves that at a minimum. I think prior to his thread he was probably feeling pretty impotent. It's just too much of a coincidence for me that the cue has been finished so soon after the thread began. That's just my opinion...Tom

Something my father taught me long ago - "God says you have to forgive. He didn't say you had to forget."

Words to live by. Talk is cheap. I've seen these posts by Kevin WAY too many times. Good luck catching up. I think it would be best if you didn't take any more orders or DEPOSITS until you are caught up with your orders.

Oh, BTW, a new exotic blank takes a maximum of 2 weeks to get in from Schmelke. Turning down slowly and seasoning should take a maximum of 2-3 months. You have ABSOLUTELY no excuse as to why this cue has taken so long. NONE.

Now, let's all get back to feeling sorry for the mistreated cuemaker. Ahhhhh, poor Kevin.

Unlike those who have a beef, I had KV do some work and it was done very nicely. I cringe when I hear promises by cuemakers go by the wayside. With so many in the industry, there is no pain like being left on the altar by your cuemaker. Having said that, Kevin has often shared his knowledge with us out of the kindness of his heart, pulling back the black curtain of cuemaking technology. This forum is always better when he is lurking about, chipping in here and there. MY OWN OPINION.....the more misses, the more people worry, the more people worry.....well, you know the story. The worry ends when you know that regardless of the time, something will get done and done right. Sounds like after a few stubbed toes, KV is headed in the right direction. Always better to have you here than not.

The Words Are A Nice Gesture. But They Are That, Just Words.

Until I See Actions Changed, All I Hear From Kv Is "blah, Blah, Blah"

No Kevin, I Don't Have A Cue On Order From You, And Never Will. You Can Call Me A "hater" All You Like, But That Doesn't Change How Poorly You Run/ran Your Business. If I Ran My Business Like You, I'd Deserve To Be Out Of Business.

I'm Completely Tired Of Everyone Being Given Fourth, Fifth, And Twentieth Chances To Get It Right.

You Should Live By......"treat Others How You'd Like To Be Treated" It Actually Works. And The People That Don't Return Your Respect Didn't Deserve It In The First Place.

IF KV'S ACTIONS CHANGE, MY OPINION/FEELINGS MAY CHANGE
