DCC behind the scenes: Part2

This brings me to another important point. When we started the DCC it was designed not for Casinos! I wanted money lost gambling to stay amongst the players not lost to a Casino. However, at that time Casino action was either in Vegas or Atlantic City, not every where in you're back yard as it is today. I don't believe at this time seeing a slot machine or crap table is as big of a deal as it was then. I may be completely off base and as some say the pool action will be off at the DCC this coming year, but I don't think so. Many people take their vacations for this pool action and if they want it to happen it will. The economy is another story!

High gas prices and increased room rates will definitely have their effect on gambling and even attendance. More people may have to share rooms (if that's possible HA) and plan ahead. Just like were having to do to make this event continue.

I realize I haven't even told you the rates they are charging us. The rate is $105 during the week and $130 on the weekend. If you are lucky enough to have a Harrah's Card you may get it free or greatly reduced. I'm pulling for you as this year I don't get 1 free room, even for myself or family. They tell me it's the best they can do this year and keep saying that no group has ever received that low of rates. They are also making us guarantee a food and beverage minimum. I can definitely tell I'm starting over!.. I have to admit the whole place is a few notches above what we have had in the past. Also another potential problem is they only have 503 rooms and are only allowing us 300 for sure. Since we filled 550 rooms at the Ex. West for 5 out of 9 days everyone won't have a room on site. To handle this problem we have 2 hotels 8 miles away that we will be supplying our own free shuttles. One is a Holiday Express being newly remodeled and a fairly new Hampton Inn. The good thing is we're trying to get a lower rate guaranteeing all the rooms. Don't know the rate for sure at this time, but it will probably be more like the Executive Inn's rate last year. If anyone knows how to get a better rate go for it.

There's more I'd like to tell you but since I type so slow enough for today. Please save you're questions till I do part 3 tomorrow. Thanks, Greg

Sometimes you gotta do what you can. There may be hiccups with the event but I'm sure it will be smooth for the most part...

I understand that some others may feel differently, but speaking for myself, if you're able to get more tables in there and schedule matches like you wanted, then I'm all in favor of it!

If you have a Harrahs card you can get the rooms greatly reduced. I got 5 nights and basically only paid for the weekend nights. You may want to get a Harrahs card if you are near one of their properties. It definitely pays off in the long run.

DCC and College

Greg,
Whether you know it or not one of the best things about the DCC was the dates. It always ended on the weekend prior to college classes starting back for the Spring semester. Until the last couple of years it didn't matter to me. But the last 2 years I have been in school so it fell perfect giving me the tournament and then school starting on Monday. I don't know if you have taken this into consideration or not but players such as Ryan Stone and a nobody like me have been able to blow off steam at Derby then go to college classes on Monday directly after.. I am sure I will attend but not likely the usual 5-6 days I had previously. Probably way too late but just something to think about!!!:sorry: :(

I say purchase a profitable hotel with a setup like the Executive West and use it to host the DCC and diverisfy the holdings/investments of Diamond Billiards.

Ghost,

All you have to do is get to a Harrahs property; Im sure theres one near Chicago, Theres one here in the Phx area. It is free, unless of course you hit the tables and blow big $$$$. In which case 15 0r 20% off a room would not result in a hugh savings for you.

As most of the Harrah's Property offer a "CARD" Called a Total Rewards Card, all you need do is sign up, and gamble. It is a Pay Back program for those WHO GAMBLE at Harrah's.

The more you gamble, time, money, etc. The more reward you get back in Discounts, Freebees, and COMPS.. Hell if you are a WHALE they will send a Jet to Pick you up, and treat you like a king when you are gambling.

It not the Card that get you Discounts, it the more you gamble, time, money, etc.

Google Search Harrah"'s total Reward Program for more scoop on the Total Rewards Program..

That stinks. I am not sure why they told you that when I made mine the day of the announcement.(On second tought, maybe becaue of being a total rewards member. But regardless you still should be able to make a reservation.) I am sure that Greg will get everything in order.
