It's weird that the one on ebay has an ivory ferrule and a moori tip. Not that often you see that on a break cue. Won't the ivery crack?

FYI...he hasn't been making ebony j/b's in a while....unless it was special ordered. They are considerably more new than his $425 base price. You may can find one from around '03-'04 or before, though. We usually get 2 batches per year, but it will probably be winter before our next one is ready. Good luck on your search.

No, it really shouldn't crack...unless you like the tip cut/worn down low and have a real hammer break....or you are prone to leaving your cue in the car on cold nights and hot days.
I have one in 'lovingly played' condition. Signed 'Gilbert 99', no where near mint. Shaft is around 12.5mm, finish has been removed almost back to the joint. Numerous minor dings, buttplate chipped, shaft dinged/dirty, etc, etc. Weighs around 20.5 if i remember correctly.
Plays great. Has that nice thump that really breaks an 8ball rack. I used this cue as my player off and on over the years, it's been kept in the case lately.
I'll get pictures when I'm sober. Seeing as how it's 70% (?) I'd ship it for $325.
I know I painted an ugly picture of it, trust me, I'm being overly critical. It's a great playing/breaking cue (modern jump cues give a gilbert the 5 out).
