Photos from World 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2008

Wow, those are some of the BEST pics I've seen in a very long time of pool players in action.

The last one of Ralf Souquet, what kind of cue stick is that? It sure is colorful! :D

I appreciate how long it takes to post up those pics, as one who does it from time to time myself. That said, when you get time, PLEASE insert the names of the players. I recognize two-thirds of them, but there were some I had no idea who they were.

I look forward to the next slide show by you. You've got talent! You seem to know exactly when to snap the camera. You're GREAT!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

For those who live close by, it really is a great tournament with much improvements from past years. Stop by if you have a chance. The night sessions are great! (bring a jacket if you are coming )

Check http://www.dragonpromotions.com/ for their official information...

I will try to get some more photos for you in the next few days :)

Here is a photo of dmgwalsh, bluepepper and nostroke (sorry for the blury picture due to long exposure in the dark )

:) hehe- What you dont realize is that the pictrue is blurry because we are all shivering!!

Quite a few tournament rookies were caught with SS shirts only- a critical error.

Just a hint for anyone thinking of attending ANY pool tournament:

Bring a LS shirt or jacket no matter how hot the temp is outside. You never know what the temp will be inside, but quite often freezing.

Wonderful pics, lots of players I can't wait to see this weekend who I never saw shoot in person.

Again, I'll be there Friday, or Saturday or both days!

Wow, Everyone looks beautiful in there nice clothing, I don't think all tournament should have such a dress code, but definetly a few more than what there is, in other countries it seems the norm....Keep the pics coming.

... just added 18 more photos to the same slideshow (72 photos now)

Thanks for the kind words again. I have just added 18 more photos to the same slideshow (including a few good shots of Danny Harriman).

To answer some tech questions here:

The camera used is Panasonic Lumix FZ50 with a Leica lens. I always manually adjust the exposure level, white balance and focus because of the high contrast lighting condition. I normally set the aperture at 3.6 and dial the shutter on the fly as I shoot (anywhere from 1 sec - 1/60 sec, ISO set at 400, 7mp instead of 10mp) Because it make zero sound (no shutter noise or anything), it is great to use in a tournament.

I kind of miss my college days at Brooks Institute.
