To clarify, the times were posted immediately after the final round robin matches and calculations were finished late Wed evening.
The players were notified seeds #1-8 would play later rounds at 1pm. If a player not seeded in top 8 was not playing a #1-8 seed, they would play at 11am.

Approximately 30 players, coaches, fans were there to check tournament times, Mike Sigel was not present.

There was no correction or change of times.
Danny Harriman, Sigel's opponent, was present to see his match time after the round robin calculations and was there on time for his match at 11am.

Thank you for your explanation.

I think calling or sending a text message to all the players as a reminder or in case of a last minute change might be a good idea.

How late were the times posted? Was Mike given a fair opportunity to get ready once he learned he played at 11? I doubt Harriman was clocking him to see how fast he could run upstairs and change.

That was to be the match of the ENTIRE event. It was a rematch from 2 years ago that was decided by 1 or 2 balls. This situation sucks.

Seedings ?

Where was Mike seeded ?
I heard from someone who was present that Mike was yelling about
being seeded blah, blah, blah and should have been playing at 1:00pm
maybe thats where he was confused.

Sigel was seeded #11. He played #22 which was Danny Harriman.

Again 31 other players knew exactly when their match was and showed up on time.

Looks more like he F'ed up, what a shame:frown:
If the time was never changed it's on him.

Everyone makes mistakes - it just comes down the whether they own them or not.

BVal<---- has made plenty of mistakes

This response leaves some questions unanswered. How were the players notified? Was it a verbal announcement made in the room? If that's the case, there is always a possibility one or more players may not have heard it. Was this information/notification posted on the tournament board?

How did players know if they were seeded 1-8, and what their opponents seeding was? And when and how were they notified of this? If it were me, I would prefer to write in the eight matches on the tournament board and put a match time next to each one. Maybe that's too simple. K.I.S.S.

Jay you run an excellent tournament and it is too bad everyone doesn't run them the way you do. If they did - these problems would not be happening.

With that said, ultimately it is up to the player to know what time their next match is. I would also like to know the answers to all of your questions as they are excellent questions. No matter what is said I am having a hard time trying to figure out how 31 players knew when their match was and 1 player did not.

If DP would like to avoid these problems in the future I suggest having Jay run their tournaments. If I was going to put on a tournament - especially a "World Championship" I would only have the best run it.

Why are your Reps are 'RED'??

An error I think.

Why is it that when you visit koreandragons homepage.................Dick Abbots Billiard Cue website pops up?

I don't think Dick would like to be associated with somebody that has nothing negative ( Red ) reps.

Must be a mistake I think. :frown:

Red reps...

When I went to the Florida Open and US Open a couple years ago, some players referred to Charlie as The Flaming Dragon, so maybe the red reps are appropriate since red is the colour of fire

So you're saying that Mike Sigel is playing in the World 14.1 Championship, doesn't bother to check the board for the time of his match the next day, shows up at 11am which is the start time for his match not ready or expecting to play, and ends up forfeiting. He just decided he didn't care what time his match was going to be played??

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense to me.

It stills seems funny that this stuff seems to happen relatively often at koreandragon events.

Who actually posts as the koreandragon ,anyways? Charlie or staff?

A little strange someone would bother to try and explain this situation while other "issues" raised here went without a response.

i guess its life, but life can be so strange sometimes that i feel i understand nothing...

i.e.; as you know, at one time i was a somewhat disrespectful towards you (at that time not knowing you) and knowing you, i have Great Respect for you!

i am not in the same class of knowledge and experience as most here are. so i will limit additional comments to only what i can say from my experiences in life - and that is: i think this All could have been Avoided and this could have been handled better, and i feel certain that if you were the TD this would have never happened to begin with, imho.

pointing fingers of blame now is of no use. and to me no matter what or who or wherefore means nothing other than the tournament was not handled professionally or in a way that it should have been handled.

Respectfully jay,
smokey

These are all excellent points Jay.
It just seems that something wrong always happens at CW's events.

Does anyone really think Charlie will be back to address these issues?
I will be very surprised if he does.
