BK2 with G-10 pin

I recently finished converting a Predator BK2 (Uni-loc) to a G-10 Radial.
The client has a preference for a butt heavy cue. This modification removed .9oz from the joint area which can be added to the butt of the cue to further enhance the rear-weighting.

The ss Uni pin was removed by boring with a 1/4" & 5/16" solid carbide end-mills. Since the orig. pin is set in phenolic, heat was not an option for me. Once removed, the hole was drilled & tapped for the Radial pin. Both shafts were Uni-Loc as well with the inserts also set in phenolic. These were also removed by boring with a carbide end-mill. Once the inserts were removed, the holes were drilled 29/64" x 1 1/2" deep, plugged with phenolic and drilled/tapped for the Radial.

I hope the client is as pleased with the conversion as I am.

nice to see a well done job

You certainly may. I originally made my post to illustrate the procedure and the methods that I used so others faced with a similar task, would have some insight. As stated, the client has a preference for a butt-heavy cue. He feels that it helps him to play better and who am I to argue that. The difference in wght. btwn. the Uni-Loc pin/insert and the G-10 pin (into wood, no insert) is .9oz. That's significant when adjusting bal. point. If you were to now add that removed wght. to the rear of the cue, it would double the effect. Continue on that route and pretty soon the cue will stand straight-up all by itself.

This was a request by the client and I saw no down-side to it.
If I don't agree with a request, I'll try to dissuade the client or flat-out tell him no. I'm funny that way. Again, this is what he wanted and I felt very comfortable about providing this service for him.

You gotta admit, it's a pretty unique cue, heh?

KJ, now that I've had the opportunity to shoot for a spell with this rear weighted cue, I must say that the cue plays great!!! I'm just a B player, and realize this evaluations is subjective but, honestly, the cue turned out to be everything I hoped it could.

Also, now that I've had the chance to examine your worksmanship, let me unequivocably state that it is flawless under a 10X loupe. And the resistance in the threads, when joining up the cue, is perfect! I will ask you soon to do this work on another cue that I want to upgrade. Thanks for the thrills, KJ!!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!

I'm very pleased that you are happy with the work. Damn it, now you've got me blushing. It was my pleasure. Thank You Sir, KJ
