Edwin - Jay - someone

No bet

Hi Michael,

I was following all the threads of the turmoil and issues going on in the PI.
We don't have all the facts (one side is only offering rhetoric) but my gut feeling puts me behind Efren and the guys.

My concern for the WTB is I want to know if the players in the money were paid ?

in full ?

all of them ?

WTB - so did the players get paid ???
I still ask "With what?". Jay posted " I've seen evidence that they're going to get paid" but didn't answer when asked about this evidence. Daz is still wondering why he was told that his prize money is being wired to his bank account when he is still here and can receive the cash. Not one that I tried to reach through SMS about the prize money payment has answered yet.

Jay, what was that guarantee that you saw? The last money matter info that've reached me is that the referees weren't even paid yet.

Help decipher this SMS Message

Here's an SMS Message that was sent out from one of Mr. Sebastian Chua's (BSCP Treasurer, STAR Billiard Center owner, Predator&Brunswick Philippine distributor and supposedly one of the sponsors of the recent WTBC) nice numbered mobile phone accounts. The number that was used to send out this message is +63 (906) 333-3333.

The message:
To fellow BSCP officers, members & players:
we will have a post-mortem meeting on WTBC this Oct. 11 2008, Saturday at Star Billiards Center at 7pm. Let's also meet w all the players to thank them and inform them about our coming events and program. We have to consolidate and make plans.

What do you think do they mean by "post-mortem"?

The understanding that all players got at the players meeting was that all prize monies would be wired directly to their bank accounts, similar to what is done on other major sports tours (i.e. Golf, Tennis).

I guess we will know within a week or so if this is the case. The people who I spoke with at the venue seemed convinced that all prize money would be paid as advertised. If not, it would be the demise of the BCSP and the WPA. My gut feeling is that the money is good. There is an air of confidence about that. Where it comes from is not my concern.

I do know that in Johnny Archer's case he asked for and received his $950 before he left ($1,000 minus 5%). He prefered not to wait for a wire transfer because of pressing needs. A small amount but it was handled promptly.

Where's The Bank?

Thats funny and brutal at the same time. Post-mortum describes the health of the promoters if they dont ship it in to the players.

I remember PBT players begging for their checks from Don Maggot and his cohoots at the last Legends of 9-Ball in LA.
They wanted to fly home and not wait for the final day as they did not want to pay for more hotel bills.
I hope they get paid.

Do they even let someone board the plain with $100,000 cash?

S.

i have flown inside america with $600,000 about 10 years ago and they didnt care, I had $45,000 one other time and the DEA held me for questioning-no big deal.

On international flights if you come in with more than $10,000 you have to declare it-which is easy if you declare it when you leave. If you dont then there are problems-I have flown with 12-15K and not bothered but if I had more I would say something.

Not without some slight delay, but he can purchase an internationally accepted financial instrument with it. The bottom line is that he's got peace of mind in knowing that he's got absolute control of HIS winnings and not still waiting and hoping that it gets deposited to his account.

Hoping that they get paid too Jay.

It looks like I missed out a lot. What happened? Why did players did not get paid? Were they even given the "Deposit Date"?

Hold on a minute. No confirmation yet of payment or non-payment except for, according to Jay, Johnny Archer who had to leave early.

You have not missed any thing. This is nothing new.you know all those concerns/fears/skepticism/mistrust about the prize monies, promotors of the pool tournaments.

Ok I got a ? Where does all this money come from? I undderstand sponsors and corporations put this up but with the economic times we are having 100k is a lot of money for anyone. The company I work for is a world wide multi billion dollar company but they told us in their quartarly summary they are not putting out any money in terms of sponsorship or anything other than some limited advertising in order to try and keep all of their plants open. Just a ?
