This is kind of gross.

I don't know about "barfing" but it sure makes me want to quit! LOL he runs out like he's playing 9ball

I also found this video there as well:

Holy Moly! I don't think I've ever seen Grady play 14.1 but he hits'em GOOOOOD. I don't know how he makes a ball without any kind of warm up stroke. He just lines it up and fires them in with precision. Which got me wondering... how did Grady compare with his contemoraries? I know the guy plays good but how good was(is) he compared to his peers?

Yeah, you've got to wonder how long these guys have been playing the game or how much they practice if the patterns just jump out at them like that to the point where an open table is a no brainer.

Watching someone run rack after rack at straight pool is the best. I would rather watch that than any other sport.

according to his book he was pretty high up there. i've got a couple of tapes of grady playing straight pool. they're really fun to watch you should check out accu stats. i'm sure they have some vhs tapes that're pretty cheap

You know, i can watch straight pool, but for the most part, to me, it can get a little boring.
But the video i posted kind of motivates me more then any other.
Not only is he running balls, he runs like 100 balls in like 20 some minutes.
Ortman is a machine.
THAT'S what i am so impressed with.

Up till now, i have never seen anyone run balls at this pace. There was always some caution thrown in there the entire match.

But Ortman gets in trouble in the first inning, like ONE TIME. That's IT! Where he takes some extra time and makes sure he follows the shot 4 feet 2.7 inches to the ONLY place he can shoot the next ball, and continues like it's nothing before he eventually misses.

It kind of reminds me of a 9 ball video from like '91 where i watch Earl Strickland BBQ Varner in like a half hour or something like that, giving him the donut.
He is blasting stuff in from everywhere and runs out from all over the place.

I'll definitely have to try this pace next time i go practice, just to see what happens.

When Sigel did his 150 and out against Zuglan, they had a time clock and I think it made guys play better. I know that run of Sigel's just looked effortless.

IMO, Sigel's 150 and out is by far and away the most technically perfect run I have ever seen.

If you want to see another run by Oliver - here is one he did during a club match in Germany, circa 1986 - I have added commentary to this video - I haven't posted it yet - I am waiting for Thorsten to come back from Germany so I can add his comments about Oliver Ortmann's impact on the game of pool in Germany.

Oliver Ortmann is probably the most impressive player I have seen. He is nearly robotic in how he plays. It doesn't matter if it's 9 ball or 14.1 he gets the break and it seems like he instantly comes up with a scenario (like a computer) and plays it out.

like 6 ball on a bar box.

I hate 14.1, i ran 8 again the other day, the day before i ran 10 playing 1P.

I am just now really getting in 14.1 I have been hooked on 1hole for the last year or so and am really starting to see the benefits of playing both of these games. Lot's of similarities that really help me in tough situations.

That was a beautiful run...

I have watched that match over and over and over and learn something new EVERY TIME! Sigel is so funny though... he walks around shaking his head like he can't believe where he ended up (which in my book was perfect) and then proceeds to keep draining them in the holes. He's quite the character.
