old cues

Here's a few cues I built a few years back while in Alaska. I got them back for refinish & other work a while back & totally reworked them, bringing them up to par with my current cues. It's kinda neat to see older cues come back so I can compare them to the work I do currently. I relate it to making notches in the doorway to mark growth as a kid.

Just curious, what was the scope of the reworking? Nice cues.

One fellow wanted his taken down to a thinner handle. The other two were also retapered to fit my current specs. I used to use a parabolic taper, which is a double taper in the butt to add stiffness & strength. The drawback is that it left the cue a bit thick in the handle area. I also used to use v-thread joint pins, so I changed those out to my new flat thread pins. It was kinda like rebuilding the cues from existing parts. I'm a better builder now than I was then, and these cues are now up to par with my current work.

I saw these last night when I went over to Eric's house. They caught my eye indeed. Really impressive.......

It is nice to see these cues after a long long while...
Hope to see them in Singapore soon. ;)

You & me have no issues. Dale & me have no issues. Please keep things civil when my name is in the middle. Everybody knows how slow I am, no secret. I understand there's tension between Dale & you. I don't know anything about besides what I have read. But please keep it between the two of you. Thanks

*laughing* Christ Eric. Your threads get hijacked more than anyone I know. You certainly bring out the best in everyone.

Speaking of being slow... So what? In my humble experience, I've come to realize that good things come to those who wait...and those who wait longest...well...they get the best.

The cues are back, after playing with them, what has been said above is something that I will attest to. The cues are like new and the hit is the same if not better than I remembered. Best part, the old shafts still fit and line fairly neatly to the butt even after the rework.
