Just rec'd this morning :) ( 01-08-09 )

here is a description from barry's email some time ago:

"I did a birdseye front and backend with a black buttcap.
I think you'll like it. I used 30+ year old birseye maple of Dads for you. Even the the maple handle is Dads wood, so the whole butt is made of Dads maple. The buttcap and joint and phenolic collar are mine."

Info update : this is cue no. 511

you're a lucky person Kam!....not only to have Barry make you a great cue but to make one he chose to share a special part of himself within as well........enjoy it and make sure to play with it! Barry would want you to enjoy it to it's fullest!........

It looks OK:boring2: , Lets see how well it plays this weekend :D :D :D :D

Lets play on Saturday Kam. Call me

OMG that is so sweet. Rodney Morris won the US open with a cue just like this but I don't think his had the Szamboti logo on the butt cap. Jeez I'd love to get my hands on a cue just like this too bad he doesn't take orders anymore :( I would even like to have Searing make me one just like this but he too no longer takes order. Hercek won't make anything without points. So no birdseye player for me :(

Great cue and good luck with it, make sure you watch that one like a hawk.

That is my kinda cue. Nothing can be simplier than that baby. When can we test drive this monster? :)

there are many cuemakers, who can and will make such a cue for you. so if it doesn't have to be a szam, searing or hercek, just try another one...

don't misunderstand, this cue is beautiful, no question about it!

I am curious...

I am very curious how she plays for sure!!!

It looks like a freight train! It is nice to have friends in high places Kam!

It is rare to find a cuemaker at the top to make a merrywidow...Dennis Searing still does make them...check out Ross'!

Well ya know that old paul newman saying.. why eat hamburger when you can have steak.. that's kindav how i feel. While I'm sure many cuemakers make a good cue and the craftsmanship is good I only see a few that will actually retain their value and possibly appreciate. Of cuemakers that are alive. It's the same as any work of art say a Picasso or a Monet as oppose to a lesser known artisti. I would most likely only buy cues from B. Szamboti, Joel Hercek (my playing cue now), Dennis Searing, Black Boar, maybe Showman and Ron Haley, possibly Ginacue. maybe I'm missing a few but alot of cues just don't seem to retain their value. I'm not knocking their playing ability at all just their longtime collectibility and ability to appreciate and not deppreciate. But in the end that really doesn't matter cause I would never sell any of my cues, i don't flip em or store them in box I use them everyday to play.

f:smile:

edit: Maybe I shouldn't have left out Bill Schick...

Sometimes wood calls, and you have to listen. A 30 year old piece has a strong voice. It was destined to be finished, waiting for the right time. A treasure, for sure.

thank guys for all your kind words ...

took it for a test drive yesterday and there is just no other way to describe this cue - IT IS PERFECT !

the balance, precision, power , feel and performance is second to none ... even the wrap is seamless - the cue is flawless

i simply cannot imagine any other cue playing better ...

this is the Stradivarius of the cue world ... the Holy Grail - The ONE !

when barry called to say the cue was ready, he told me that this was IT - if i was not happy with this one then there was no way to make me happy ... i am one very happy guy :D

i appreciate all the PM's with offers for this cue but it is not for sale ... at any price ...

this cue is more than the sum of its parts - it is an expression of friendship and love and it will stay in my family as a reminder of that friendship long after i am gone ....
