Cutting Tip

Guerra Cues

I build one cue at a time

Hello folks,
I got a mid-size cue smith lathe and works like a champ :)

I am just start messing around with it and I am talking to Chris Hightower, Pete Ohman and Mason and would like to see some advice and or tips and tutorials on the best way to make a tip flush with the ferrule. I have plenty of firewood to try stuff.
Main advice from Chris was to master the blade technique, so I bought a decent Lenox utility blade with titanium blades.
So... having that said and after I glue the tip how should I cut the excess of tip? Bend the blade, give it an angle, bend the blade a bit and have a finger chopped up?
All advice is welcome for beginner...
By the way... Chris Hightower rocks... He is so patient to a beginner like myself.
I am lucky to have other friends like Pete Ohman and Mason to give me advice on my first repair steps :ok:

Thanks guys. I have sen those videos already. I was expecting you guys to share what do you do.

I use razor blade as well.
I tape one end with masking tape just to be safer.
I trim the tip down to 14 MM with the toolbit then use razor blade.
Most tips are too thick for my taste.
So I know off some with a very sharp pointed toolbit insert.
Shape it with the razor then 120 grit paper on wood block.
