Hey guys, I am just looking for some cheap felt to get me by for a year or two. I want something comparable to simonis's speed, thats very important. I need to to be around a hundred bucks. Mali or Champion Ship ok stuff?

There is a joke here, but I'm afraid to use it. :sorry:

Mali is fine, and it's cheap.

this is what's on my table. it's very good for a lower priced cloth....

shop around, and you'll find it for a good price - just linked the first thing that came up.

one more edit: this also comes in teflon, if that is important to you (spill and stain resistance).

Oh come on jay lets here it:D ! So is that mali fast like simonis? It seems like I am just paying for the name when I shop around for simonis. Dont get me wrong, I love the stuff, but the price is killer for a poor boy.

its not nappy is it? I also found a brand called Velocity Pro and supposibly its pretty close to simonis 860 and it comes in tourny blue. Any thoughts!

This thread interests me.

I know someone whos room is struggling but despately needs to re-cloth his tables.

Velocity Pro is a worsted cloth like Simonis, has simalar speed but half the price, its the way to go, Mali and Champ Ultra are not a worsted cloth and are different, nappy cloths. You can get it from forum member Dartman from his website poolfelt.com.

Your other options are Chamionship Tour Edition or Garino T2000.

The Garino is very fast worsted cloth and can be bought reasonable from Muellers. Muellers dicount code right now for 20% off is SD09.

I've had Mercury Ultra on my table for 2+ years, and it is not NAPPY. You might be mistaking it for Titan...? It is not worsted, but it's not like Mali or Titan either....

The Ultra is not a worsted cloth , and thats really what he is looking for is a worsted cloth. The Ultra is a nice cloth but is not worsted and does not play the same as worsted, thats all I was refering too.

I have Mali on my home table...plays great, and is very durable. I take care of it, and it looks almost new.

People hear respect you Jay so I will say what you're thinking.....

Joanne fabrics has a good selection of "felt". But if you want a good cloth for your table then I hear that Velocity Pro is the nut's for the price. I also hear good things about Simonis 860HR

Okay I am an ass, I am sorry, I like to kid!

I am sorry to say this, but I doubt you will find anything in your price range in away comparable to Simonis.

Good Luck with your search

I thinking I am going to go with Velocity Pro, in a bright blue. Probably going to pick up some aramith pro balls. Does anyone know where to pick up a cheap measle ball? They are like 30 bucks and ebay is not much cheaper!

If I were you I'd just buy the set of Aramith pro balls plus you get the measle ball with it but you can search around the net for the best price .

IMHO, you will feel the difference in good cloth vs. mediocre much more than the difference between Aramith Pro and lesser balls. In other words, I suggest spending less on balls, e.g. Aramith Premium, and more on cloth.

cloth

Although the Velocity is a lot cheaper, it continues to stretch after it is installed. It just starts breaking down in a commercial application.

In Vegas a room used it for 3-4 weeks and took it off. It would stretch inconsistent and keep stretching!

I agree with who ever said - spend the money on cloth and forget the measle ball. I personally think the measle ball sucks. So I asked a few at the Derby. Diliberto really dislikes it and said Efren can list 10 things you CANNOT do with the measle ball.

It plays different. I think it is good for spectators on a TV type match - but really would not endorse it for regualr play. By the way a measle ball is polyester - not phenolic. That is one reason why they look beat up so fast.
