My new high run!!

I haven't practiced straight pool in a few years, but last time I did I ran 50 something balls. Yesterday I was at the pool hall practicing and decided to play some straight pool with a buddy. We raced to 100. I opened with a 22 and ended up winning the set from there. After he took off, I proceeded to run 62 balls for my new high run! I know it's not great, but I was happy as hell. I'm sure it will only get better as I plan to start playing it a lot now.

I think the main thing that helped me was John Schmidt's advice on finding the "triangle" to get to your break ball. Once I started trying that it felt easy running balls.

62 is great. I've been playing 14.1 for about 10 months and have only managed a 33!

Where did you get that advice from JS? If it was online somewhere, can you post a link?

Ironically, that's my high run too.

Well now I can't leave the pool hall until I hit 63......let the games begin my friend:D! You better not hit 63 first, or I'll DROP YOU MOTHER F***ER!!

I'm pretty sure that is my high run as well. Just good enough to think 100 is possible, but low enough that we still need some seriously luck to ever get there.

Still, anytime you break 50 at 14.1 I think you're playing pretty well. Nice job Easy.

What stopped your run? I missed a combo to stop my run I think.

I got almost perfect on a break ball, just a little too steep of an angle. I hung the ball and busted the stack wide open. I was kicking myself on the way home, just wondering what I might have ran if I made the break ball. I am hoping for a 100 by the end of 2009.

now you are joining me on the same pursuit.

Mine is to break my 119 by the end of the year!

good luck

This is the same way I ended a run last Thursday. I was just a little too stretched on the break ball, and didn't put enough draw on the cue ball. Busted about 8-9 balls out and stuck the cue ball right to a little cluster.

I'm still kicking myself about it :)
