BCA in Vegas vs DCC which is better?

I have been to both. Not even close. Not even in the same universe. The ONLY people who would possibly vote for the BCA, is either someone who:
Has never been to DCC, or, is a banger whom just wants to play, and have a chance(understandable). The caliber of players, the different games, the amount of action, and the quality of play ALL leans to DCC. The equipment used to be bad at the BCA, but they started using Diamonds, didn't they? Now, if they were just 9 footers

Difficult.
Your talking about a purely pool tournament being fun, vs a pool tournament that is in a fun town.
Vegas is more fun as a town, but the BCA isn't the action paradise the Derby is.
Louisville isn't really happening, unless you are hanging at the Hooters, or going to Godfathers around the corner, but the pool action is tops.
Tough call.
Now that the Derby has moved, i can't even vote cause i haven't been to the new venue.
Your talking about a purely pool tournament being fun, vs a pool tournament that is in a fun town.
Vegas is more fun as a town, but the BCA isn't the action paradise the Derby is.
Louisville isn't really happening, unless you are hanging at the Hooters, or going to Godfathers around the corner, but the pool action is tops.

well said, for hardcore players the DCC is the spot, for bangers BCA. I live in Vegas in May and went this year for 4 hours, won $1000 and left. Years ago when it came to town nobody from the action pool rooms went to it(including me) its a 3 ring circus for kids-alot of fun, not hardcore pool. Which is ok for some but not my bag,

Derby City Classic a/k/a "DCC" -- non-stop action and opportunities for players of all caliber
Super Billiards Expo a/k/a "SBE" -- like a pool fair with numerous vendors with everything pool-related under the sun, action, and tournaments for seniors, juniors, pros, ladies, pro-am, leagues, et cetera
U.S. Open -- Come to Virginia and find out why, pool at its finest by 200-plus of the world's best in attendance
$25,000-added Joss Tour/Turning Stone Casino -- Venue is pool friendly, comfortable, and the playing arena is THE BEST for the player and for the spectator, plus it's FREE to all spectators

DCC for the pool action, BCA for the other action. I love Vegas.

We won't be there. I have been to MANY tournaments there, however, and it's always a good time.
The DCC is good for some folk, but it's not so good if you like sleep!

Bangers, league, and beginner-to-intermediate players may prefer the BCA... people who want to play and have a chance without being knocked out immediately. People of all levels can play. I think TAR's presence will also increase the number of real players at the BCA for those want to watch the big guys match up. Also, they have some great shopping for everyone, and I'm not talking about on the strip. Every time I go to Vegas, I end up with a new cue, clothes, all sorts of goodies. Leave enough in your luggage to take it all home, too!
Real players, gamblers, and people who want to sweat big matches will probably prefer the DCC. These people don't sleep! There's a private room for AZ members to play in when they aren't spectating. Some shopping but not as much as BCA or the SBE.
They are both great events and I recommend any pool player to attend each at least once.

There is and can be plenty of action at the BCA. Last year at the BCA was probably the greatest match ever seen - Alex vs SVB. With TAR, the BCA will just get better and better. No pressure JCIN, but with you now living in Vegas - I expect bigger and better this year.
BCA in vegas is a lot of fun because it's vegas. Great places to eat, lots of entertainment all hours of the day or night, and don't kid yourself about getting action if you want it. Isn't that where Shane & Alex matched up? You just gotta read between the lines & stay up all night. There's lots of people, overwhelming at times. It's mostly recreational players taking a vacation with their buddies. But there's enough players to find a game if you want to work at it. Overall it's just a mass vacation revolving around bar pool. But it certainly can be fun.

Many players from other countries. TAR has had great matches, SVB vs Alex, etc. etc. And the OPEN division is no joke, try fighting through 1800+ players in one tournament.
Real Gamblers prefer the DCC. You have to be a gambler to want to risk the weather to head to 1 location.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to hit up the DCC, but Vegas just has so much more to offer. Why don't the 'Real Players' come to Vegas?

However, they are geared toward different types of audience. Derby is where you can meet all the world class players and play among them if you want to take a swing. You can watch matches played out with such finesse and skills that most average pool players can't even imagine of executing. Whereas at BCA, all levels of players from beginners to pros can compete among their similar levels (Open, Master and Grand Master) and everyone has a chance of winning. There are team events, mini tournaments, scotch doubles and second chance events... It's more geared to have group and family fun and promote team bonding.
Weather you like Derby or BCA is your own preference, but that Mark Griffin must be doing something right

If you're a pool junkie, you owe it to yourself to attend both of these.
The DCC is, wthout question, the more significant confluence of all top level players, and is, perhaps, your only chance to see all of the best bank pool and one pocket players. The BCA event is the greatest gathering of pool's amateur ranks, but has far more top players than many realize.
I gave the nod to the BCA event, because so many of the top pros are there anyway, playing in either the World Pool Masters, the Predator 10-ball event, or in the Grandmaster Divison of the BCA amateur events. In addition, many action players show up and the action at the one-mile-away Cue Club is always hot and heavy. There are thousands of amateurs playing in the bar table events, and more than a few of them play pro speed. For example, in recent years, both Kirkwood and Appleton won amateur events at Master/ Grandmaster level.
In addition, the BCA's give you a chance to watch the straightest-shooting women who are not WPBA touring pros. Past winners of the individual bar table events include Kim Shaw, Kristi Carter, and Monica Webb, and, before either was a WPBA touring pro, Liz Ford and Jennifer Barretta were members of a team that won the Masters level 8-ball team event.
Whichever event you attend, you're in for a treat.
