Sub-rail Extensions vs. Pocket shimming

What in your professional opinion is the perfect gc 3 pocket size..Tight pocket style of course....

extending the rails is definitely the best way to go. it helps the table play with more consistency.

Donny,

What you didn't share with the forum members is that you are one of the best mechanics in the country and have this process down pat.

The average guy out there working on tables can really butcher a table if he doesn't know exactly what he's doing.

Donny,

Before I watched your video last year, I watched Ernesto do virtually same thing to some of the GC's at the LVCC. You guys are amazing! With the passing of Al Conte last year, no one I know of can do your type of quality work in the Northeast US. Thanks for re-listing the link.

Great work. Ive tried to explain the difference to people but ive given up. Im just gonna link your pix next time. Nice job

I hear alot talk on here about how to tighten pockets. The best way is to extend the sub-rail. For those of you who don't understand the difference click on the link and see a table that was double-shimmed and was redone by extending the sub-rail.

sdbilliards,

I have a Diamond Pro with the larger league pockets. I would like to have them tighted to the Pro size. Can this be done remotely (send rail to you) or does it have to be done onsite? I would imagine that the cushions need to be replaced. What would it cost to have this done?

Thank you,

You can send me the rails, I actually prefer to do them in my shop. But, I believe Glen Hancock (RealKingCobra) will be on the east coast for awhile and he's the one that taught me, perhaps you can contact him and save shipping fees. The shipping fees on Diamond Rails maybe a pretty penny, since you have the two long rails.

Can this be done with any table or just commercial grade tables like the Diamond and GC? I have a Brunswick Manchester II which is an 8 foot home table that has bucket pockets that I would like to have tightened.

Thanks,

Randy

It's a good offer Mark, he's in your neck of the woods anyway. I know Donny well enough to know that he'd never promote to take work from someone else....now ME on the other hand...:rotflmao1: :rotflmao1:

Nice work Donny.
I'll call you after I get my tax refund.
My pockets are spitting balls out ( not your work of course ).
