break shot

I love how Bob breaks it to him gently there at the end - "Umm... No."

LOL

Some of those break balls were a little low - the side pocket break balls were too "centered" with the exception of the time that Bob showed how to set the shot up correctly.

If the break ball is within 3 ball widths of the rack, you should draw the cue ball. If the break ball is more than 3 ball widths from the stack, you should follow. That is a basic rule that I follow (thanks to Danny Harriman).

at last a feasible guideline on my quest to a proper breakshot ;) I've been searching for precise recommendation like this one, on what to do in a certain situation, when to apply left or right English and when to draw or follow. Even at John Schmidt's tape when he talks about that he didn't give any perfect advice for every case.
Thanks for mentioning BJ, I will try that one.

Dennis, what kind of table was that? The video was real dark on my monitor, but the rails seemed to be some exotic type of wood.

It was just a standard Diamond Pro at the DCC in the straight pool room. I think the lighting makes the wood look a little darker like you pointed out.
