John Robinson Ivory Handle - my new baby

hey guys - I just wanted to share some functional art.

I just got this in from the Robinson's in Scottsdale AZ.

they make a really fine cue and have been building them for 40 years - I own 3 of them and love the way they play.

I came up with this merry widow design as a patriotic theme along with my Ginacue - I have started a collection of this type of cues with a few on order from various makers.

the details are: Red Wildwood spalted maple forearm and buttsleeve with ivory / lapis / coral checkered rings throughout. Ivory joint that has been inlayed with alternating silver outlined coral and lapis diamonds. A 3 piece ivory sectioned handle and an ivory buttcap finish the cue off nicely - Also included are some custom ivory / lapis / wildwood joint protectors.

21 oz and perfectly balanced - signed 1 of 1 for Me.

enjoy
Ryan

Nice! I've been interested in John Robinson's cues for a long time. I keep hoping to see one at SBE, but no luck yet. That I never see used ones for sale makes me even more interested.

Robinson cue

Very nice patriotic cue. It's easy to overdue this kind of theme but yours is very tastefully done. I always like the inlays they do in the joint. You just don't see it on any other cues. Plus, with the joint setup they use their cues have a very nice solid hit to them.

LC3: You should give them a call or shoot them an email. Their customer service is top notch. Even if it's just to inquire about their cues.

bumping a legend's work for AZ.

this guy has been making cues longer than most

Nice looking cues. Interesting joint construction, how does the hit compare to other joints? I would think maybe some metallic "ping" can be heard?

no ping at all...hits really no different than any steel joint cue, maybe more solid because of the increase in face to face contact of the joint

I have only hit with one, and if it wasn't for the fact that it was 4k, I would have bought it. They play great. Nice and stiff and they really move the cue ball.
