Tulane University Alumni grads, Justin Marcus and Jeff Paige are interested in staking their friend Mika Immonem in a straight pool match against Mr. 403, John Schmidt, here in NEW ORLEANS, LA at Buffalo Billiards.

These Tulane magnates are interested in getting into the stakehorse business and this might be the match to get them started.

Are there any stakehorses out there who are interested in staking John Schmidt?

John's Stakehorse

I'm sure John and his financier will be more than happy to oblige Justin and Jeff with a match-up against Mika if at all possible. Let the AZ smack-talk session begin...

Calling Roy and Da Boys..... :grin-square:

P.S. Has anyone mentioned this directly to John at all? Might be a good idea...

I got 5 on it!

Mr. 403

John will not turn down this game. I imagine he will get all the stake he needs to oblige these boys. I would like to bet on John if this goes down.

Well they are racing to a certain amount of balls so I do not see why it would not be a "race"

Games like 9 ball and 10 ball and even One Pocket are played to a certain number of racks to win. Straight Pool is played to a certain number of balls. If you've played the game, you know that is certainly is not a race, when the game, to 100, 125, or even 150 or more, can take much longer than the even "long" races to 13 or 15. Just shows how much 9 ball has permeated the pool culture with the term "race" applying to games other than the short rack games.

Now that's a match I'd love to see! How many points are they playing to? I'd imagine it would be at least 500 points for that kind of money. I think it's too close to call between these two, John Schmidt has the two 400 ball runs while I'm not sure if Mika has broken 300 yet, his high was 267 a few years ago, but Mika averages a lot in his runs so it should be close. If I had the money I'd back Mika just to see this match happen.

YOu wouldn't have that moneey too long!

I don't know about that, I've seen both of these two play 14.1 and they look close. I think Mika is mentally tougher and has a little more talent. schmidt sems to play more 14.1 so I really think it's hard to pick a winner.

Also, I believe Mika has done better at the world 14.1 championships.
