Went down and got an ipod today. Gonna use it to play. I'm hoping it helps me focus. I get really distracted by the pop music on most of the jukes. Anyone else got an opinion on the subject? Don

I can't use it for practice. I don't know why, but I just can't do it. I did put The Deadstroke Tapes and Overcoming Contenderosis on it though and I listen to it while I am on the way to the hall which helps a lot.

I just don't like how with headphones you can't hear the true sound of the balls and the tip hitting the balls.

I tried out an ipod and just cant get used to it, cant hear myself think because the music is inside your head instead of the juke box just being ambience.

plus when your playing and the other guy trys to tell you your on 2 fouls and you dont hear him , you miss a kick and he starts moving the balls your like WTF!

Shoot I hadn't thought of that. I'm gonna go down and see how that feels right now.

I don't know about the Deadstroke Tapes, but the Overcoming Contenderosis tapes are hypnosis based. You aren't suppose to drive and listen to them. Actually it even says just that in the beginning of each session.

Yea I usually giggle every time I hear that.

I listen to it in the parking lot btw.

The muffled sound of the break is what gets me most. I tried it one time and that is all it took. I started playing this game 16 years ago and a few weeks ago is the first time I played it with headphones. Of course I took a ten year layoff up until last year too, but still.

Love the ipod. I honestly think I play better when I play with mine. I feel more into it. Less bored. Since boredom is my biggest prob in pool right now, the ipod has helped greatly.

I use below noise canceling headset with my iTouch to block out outside noise when practicing.

I used to travel a lot for work and used the same set on the airplane .. works well for small size headset and I personally liked it better than Bose headset.

I love it, blocks out all the annoying sounds - crappy music, constant woofing, and most importantly those who haven't learned to eat with their mouths closed.

I don't like to do anything in practice that I can't do in competition and honestly all the leagues around here have banned it during play and most the tournaments have done the same thing. Maybe I didn't notice it before but Valley forge this year banned them from use during competition.

Chewing gum isn't eating... it's CHEWING gum. so I'm all in the clear...

I do a little weekend DJ'ing of weddings and such during the summer and all my music is MP3. I play off my laptop. But my music collection has become quite extensive, I have about 30,000 songs on my hard drive. So if any of you have some music you're looking for, drop me a PM and I can see what I can do for ya.

I use an MP3 player as I don't like the iTunes software. I play better with it in but have been playing lately without it as a lot of tourneys especially the national ones do not allow them. I do think one can become "mentally" dependant on certain things when playing such as LD shafts, ipods, etc. In my opinion it is not a good idea to use them 100% of the time.

I completely agree with you mongoose, I hate the Itunes software. I have a sandisk mp3. Just as good and much cheaper. JMO
