Hey guys does anyone have any idea from looking at the photo's below who may have made this cue?

The cue has a Delrin Butt Cap, Birdseye Maple forearm and Butt, and very dirty Green Speck Courtland #9 Irish Linen wrap. The cue has a Stainless Steel piloted joint, with wide Nickle Silver Rings and the cues Pin is 5/16-18 and it is Brass, in addition the insert in the shaft is also Brass.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

TAD uses a longer tenon for the butt cap that goes almost all the way through to about half an inch to the other end. I don't think its a TAD, but I'm not sure either. The butt sleeve ring looks like it is too thin, he is known to use thick rings. The brass joint pin throws me off too. TAD's purple heart titlists used brass joint pins, but they were a different thread pitch than 5/16x18.

Several cuemakers have stated that they go through an experimental stage before settling on their signature style. Worth checking with TAD. Maybe he built a players cue with old Harvey Martin stock before working out his own style making this the precusor to the TAD8.

Can you show the bumper and inside of the butt cap where the bumper sits?

Here are the additional photo's you requested.

Hi

FYI

I have 2 pre 1970 TAD cues with brass joint screws. TAD saw these and said they were pre 1970 based on the brass screw.
I dont know if all pre 70s had brass joint screws but at least some did.

The butt cap doesnt look like what I have experienced with TADs, but I would check with Tad or his son.

Good luck in your search.

Cue Identification

I am willing to bet that its a Brian Gilham cue. He made around 50 cues about 30 years ago. He lived in Portland, OR back then. He used the thicker Nickle/silver ring and a delrin butt cap like your cue has. Kenny Dodd has a Brian Gilham cue and I could take pictures of the cue if you like. Its a four point but it has the same thick Nickle/silver ring and delrin butt cap. I will call Kenny tomorrow and see if it has a 5/16 18 brass thread and insert (I think it does).
