Howdy, Big day in the Dawg household... I bought a pool table this weekend. Wo0t!. Anyway, I have a 9 footer (1 inch slate) that's all broken down in my garage... (it's an furniture style table, drop pockets, claw legs, oak. Table playing area is huge. Measures 110 inches by 55 inches bumper to bumper) While it's broken down I thought I would take the this opportunity to change the bumpers, cloth, shims, etc.

Also, Im not really educated on what types of rails are out there and how they play, I just recognize the accu-fast name because of their advertising. Somebody wanna tell me what my options are?

I'm planning on taking my time and trying to put together the best playing surface/table dimensions possible...

Let's talk about it, If you had a 9 footer what's the dream setup. What size pockets?, What kind of rails? what kind of cloth?

Congrats on the table.

Cloth- 860
Pockets- atleast double shimmed
rails- not sure

also I flew into Tampa today maybe this trip I can find sometime to play a bit with you if your interested.

Congrats Dawg!

...and remember when your not shooting, it is great for folding clothes!

<---Table mechanics forum can help with some of your questions on the new table as well.

Congrats I just got mine a few weeks back and put it together (temporarily) by myself. Next time its recovered it will be by a professional.

Cool beans man, I am happy for you. I just hope your table does not turn into a place to put laundry when it comes out of the dryer like mine did. (Not my choice BTW) Anyway. good for you. I know its a good feeling :)

folding clothes? what's that? I think ive heard of that. Actually I think I saw it right next to wash dishes, mop floor & vacuum on my wife's to do list. When she brings me my beer & slippers tonight I'll ask her what that means. lol.

You get good ole', "Aaattaboy!" from me!

You will have to post some pics after you get it all together.

I hear that k66 rails are good, 860 simonis, 4.25-4.50 inch pockets pockets.

That's awesome man! It's one of my goals to have the space and time for a good table.

Post pics when you can. Enjoy the many years of practice ahead....

Thanks Chino. Off to google I go, lol.

*edit* I went, seems K-66 is a profile or size rather than an actual product. looked like K-66 is made by lots of companies. I opened up a can of complicated worms, guaranteed to waste an entire day (or more) of productivity at work. Back to google I go.

lol wut?

U ok?

Simonis 860 and 4.5 pockets even throughout. Smaller pockets take away some elements out of the game and having wider side pockets is just silly. Conrgratulations.

: ) i think we're all selfishly worried you won't have the time to make us laugh by posting pics in the funny gif thread. : )

Congrats on the table. We were so excited to get a table when we moved in 6 months ago that we threw carpet and padding down, pushed the boxes against the wall, had the table set up, same pockets etc, but with new simonis. Now we're getting around to thinking about unpacking, painting, doing real carpet and padding, and tightening those pockets.

Please share what you find out. We couldn't wait and we're playing on super fast buckets.

Congrats and good luck with the new table B.O.Dawg. Mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow (not sure when it will be set up). It comes with 4.5-4.625 corner pockets - tight enough for play, not too small for an old guy to see. Cushions are Brunswick SuperSpeed. Cloth will be Simonis 860 HR, Old Fart Green™.

Congratulations! I recommend the new Simonis. 860 HR. It's just a little faster than the old 860 and is made to be more durable. Most will recommend blue. I say pool tables are green. But I like tradition.

K66 cushions for pool are the type you want. They come cut to size. Dartman has excellent cloth and cushion prices. I got mine from him.

Do not.... repeat DO NOT double shim the pockets. The added facing will not play correctly and you'll not be happy. Have the sub-rails lengthened.

Maybe you can get luck and RKC will be in your area. You can always pm him and see.

Pockets should be about 4 1/2" on the corners with 5" sides. Any tighter and you'll be unhappy.

Congrats on buying a table. Isn't a 9 ft table 100x50 inches? 110x55 might be a 10 ft table.

hi sde i seen you posted so i clicked. and you where the first of 17 posts to say it does add up.kudos to you. did the dawg measure right or is it a slate measurement cause he did say that it was broken down. as to not have the rails in place and just the slates mounted on the bed.

He did say bumper to bumper so i assumed that he measured before he broke the table down. Dawg will come on and tell us I'm sure.
