Who is the maker of this cue and how close are the points to being even?
thanks
Mark

hi mark,

cue maker is bebot bautista. please visit www.bebotbautistacues.synthasite.com and your question about how we make points will be very much answered visually. but to answer your question, all bebot bautista cues are made with precision even with our limitations - including 5 or 7-pointer cues. :) ...and please do take note of the 8-pointer in gallery 2 in our website (it used to be my player but someone from europe already bought it from me). i assure you, it takes a lot of skill and experience to make that kind of razor-sharp and super high points. you can also see how the rings line-up perfectly.

thanks for looking!

Nice cue, however your description is incorrect when you said it is "3/8 x 8 ss radial pin".

That is not a radial screw joint screw. Just thought you might need to research the difference in a radial pin and a non-radial. Also, you might double check to see if it isn't a 3/8-10 thread pattern. That would help if someone wants to add compatible shafts like a Predator or somthing else. If it is a 3/8-8 and not a 3/8-10, it is going to be a pain to find specialized shaft that fits correctly. Not knocking the cue, I just think you want to be more accurate in your description here. You are dealing with people who have had a lot of experience with cues. Good luck ... a lot of cue for the money.

Just to back up my claim, here is a very good picture showing the lands and grooves of a radial pin. the difference is evident.

hello.

well, actually the term 'radial' is supposedly just to differentiate it from the 5/16's and the uni-loc quick release. :) so if it will be much better, i'll just omit the word 'radial'.

--------

"Regarding the Radial pin, for all the people who claim to know its origin, thread size and other issues, please let me set the record.
The term Radial is a registered trade mark of the UNI-LOC Corp. of America
As of this writing the Radial thread size has never, been accurately portrayed on any post or cue makers web site. It is proprietary to the UNI-LOC Corp."

- Paul Costain (inventor of Uni-Loc)

----------------------
so technically, if it's not made by Uni-Loc, it can not be called a Radial Pin as the term "radial" in itself is a registered brand name, and not really to determine the pin-size and pitch. if we were to take this straight to the book, the G10s you showed me are not also radial and can not be called as such... because there is only one Radial Pin - the ones made by Uni-Loc Corporation - which specifications are not clearly defined as it is proprietory to them.

so, i will just omit the term "Radial" to avoid confusion and misinformation. :) sorry about that folks. my mistake.

and yes sir, the pin is indeed a 3/8 x 8, proprietory to ours, and not 3/8 x 10.. precisely because we make custom cues to be fitted by our custom shafts, not that our cues are made for predator, mezz, or any other after market, off-the-shelf cue components (particulary shafts). it would be a sad thing for a custom cue maker if his cues will only be fitted with tech shaft as first priority. and i'm sure most of the cuemakers here will agree with me that they are here to make custom cues (as a whole) and not just custom butts (to be fitted by tech shafts as first recourse). but of course, we can make cues with pins allowing provisions for those tech shafts - only upon customer request... and that makes us a true custom cue maker. :)

The original Pin (eventually to become Radial Pin) was a prototype for a cue Bill Stroud made for Paul Costain in 1989... bebot bautista has been making cues since 1987, has been using 3/8 x 8 since. we also use 3/8 x 9, 3/8 x 10 or any pin size for that matter depending on customer request. we know our pin sizes sir, and yes the cue above is a 3/8 x 8, not a 3/8 x 10.

thank you for your wonderful insight. :)
