Happy that Dragon changed its policy, and is now forbidding invited players from participating in the qualifiers.

Good on you, Dragon.

This seems to be a recent addition to the qualifiers. Does anyone know how one might go about entering this? I called the number (Comet) and they are not taking sign-ups there.

Bob, from an email a couple weeks ago from dragon (snipped below) it reads to me like you have to sign up through dragon.

This year marks the 69th World Tournament for 14.1, and stars such as Thorsten Hohmann, John Schmidt, Ralf Souquet, Danny Harriman, Tony Robles, and Mika Immonen are just a few of the powerful list of world beaters who will come to play in the greatest straight pool tournament in the world. Players may also join qualifiers to get a chance to compete in the World Tournament with all the legendary greats. Qualifiers thus far will be held at Drexeline Billiards in PA, Amsterdam Billiards in NY, and Comet Billiards in NJ. To host a qualifier or play, contact worldstraightpoolchampionships@gmail.com .

Also their USA office number is 1-407-782-4978

Best of luck

Kev

bump for 2010

WARNING !! THIS IS A BUMP OF LAST YEARS THREAD TO GIVE YOU A HEADS UP THAT IT WILL BE HAPPENING AGAIN SOON

Charlie said that this years qualifiers are in August and September and wanted to know if Red Shoes was going to host one.

So we should be getting some movement on this year's tournament soon. Tournament in October in NJ.

If you know of any pool halls that want to host qualifiers in your area, get in contact with Charlie Williams.

I wish that I lived back on Long Island where I grew up. There is so much
straight pool on the Island & in the City. It is a dream come true for 14.1 players and on top of all that. There are "Real Pool Rooms" with great tables to play on.
I agree with Mr. Lipsky, that is a very good rule not to allow invited players to compete in the Qualifiers. It is a great opportunity for normal players to step up a level. My "Hat is off to Dragon"

Let's see.
Predator has been around for 16 years.
Sixtynine 14.1 world championships.
Comes out to over four 14.1 world championships a year. Pretty impressive!

Yeah, someone made this same joke last year.:boring2:

Anyway, I think it is great that Dragon is pushing forward with this again. Great play, great dvds, great game.

Guys just to let you know I am also lined up to be hosting a qualifier in NY as well. Let me know if you are interested in playing in Long Island NY.

Thanks

I see that Dennis mentioned this thread as being a bump from last year, but aside from the tournament .... Someone answered the phone at Comet? Does this mean that they have reopened? Can anyone elaborate?

thanks

I figured this would be confusing. Bob's post is from last year. Should have started a new thread. Will do so soon.

I messaged with Charlie yesterday and spoke with John Lavin last night and it looks like we may do a Chicago qualifier on September 18. I will start a new thread once the ball gets rolling.
